So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your replies. It was most helpful. We have decided to go with Scripps and I have also signed up for Parents connection. I will be checking out a few preschools and hopefully I will find a suitable one for my daughter.

We also live in Carmel Valley.
I second the recommendation for The Parent Connection. It is a great resource and there are tons of members in Carmel Valley. The website is on the response below or you can contact me directly if you have questions - I am on the board.
Our dentist is the Dixon family of dentists at San Diego Pediatric Dental Group in Sorrento Valley. They are really good and even my then 2yo sat for a cleaning. ###-###-####.

Most any preschool in the area has Pre-K. Savvy source is helpful. Our school is full, I believe, but we have liked it so far (our 3yo has been there for 2months) - Sorrento Valley Children's Center. I would check Kinderhouse Montessori because they had openings. Also Solana Beach Presbyterian is supposed to be great if you are willing to drive north.

Good luck with the move and contact me with any other questions - we love Carmel Valley with excellent schools, lots of parks, and so many families with kids.

We don't live in the area but we do go to Evelyne Vu-Tien, Pediatric Dentist on Carmel Moutain Rd. She has an excellent manner with kids, her office is state of the art, and she has lots of stuff for the kids to do. Her number is ###-###-#### or website www.kidzplacedentistry.com

Hi C.,
I have 2 and 4-year old daughters and moved to Carmel Valley about a year ago. My girls go to Kinderhouse Montessori in Sorrento Valley (about 15 minutes away) and I am extremely happy with the school. Some closer options for you might be Del Mar Hills Nursery School, Carmel Valley Montessori, and Grace Point Church (I can't remember the name of their pre-school). I wasn't able to get my kids into any of these programs mid-year, so didn't research them thoroughly. A good resource is:

For doctors, we use Scripps Clinic in Carmel Valley. Our pediatrician is Dr. Grayson. I think that she is just ok, but I haven't yet found the time to look for an alternative. I see Dr. Golin at that clinic (internal med) and like her. I've only taken my kids to the dentist once and we used Matt Davis in Encinitas based on a recommendation and had a good experience (http://www.dsadental.com/current/).

I would suggest joining the Parent Connection. It is a great resource. http://www.sandiegoparent.com/

As for health club, we belong to the Pacific Athletic Club, because we live within walking distance, my parents also belong, we got a great deal on the inition fee and monthly cost, the kids pools are great, and they have a ton of kids' programs (though the added expense can add up). I don't know what other options might be available in the area.

Drop me a note if I can help in any other way.

M.

I also suggest Sorrento Valley Children's Center if there is space and the Dixon family of dentists. Although not very trendy our family belongs to the YMCA (of La Jolla, but maybe there is a closer one to Carmel Valley?).
The Family magazine is free and can be found outside of certain stores around San Diego, or online http://www.sandiegofamily.com/, or you can pay for home delivery - it is great for finding seasonal local activities.
Good luck with the move!
