Try rubbing alcohol. It will get almost any type off ink out of clothing or off of hands (including permanant marker). Just soak the stained area with the alcohol and rinse out before washing.
My 18 month old loves markers, she got hold of a dry erase marker and got it all over a new dress that was a gift from her aunt. I've tried Spray n' Wash, Clorox Oxy and Oops, it hasn't even faded. Please help, she only got to wear the dress once!

When my now eight-year old son was just a toddler he did the same with a black marker and in frustration I called the manufacturer of the pen. She recommended a stain remover I can't buy in Kansas so we just turned that shirt into a play shirt. Try getting on the website for Tide...they have lots of good tips. I have also called any of the major laundry detergent and bleach companies when I was stumped. It didn't matter that I never bought their products...

IF anything will work it is some stuff that you will find in an automotive section of a store. It's called "Goop" by most folks but might be marketed differently. It hs a sandy, grainy texture and usually has an orange scent. It worked WONDERS on my sons clothes and would remove tea stains, grass stains, pretty much anything. I would run it on the stain and let it set for a few minutes. I'd run it under the water with some hand soap and then toss it in the laundry. His daycare teachers were always amazed when they thought he had ruined something and then they would see it perfect again.
I would avoid dry erase markers at this age. They are actually toxic (at least they don't say non-toxic like the others do). And they don't come out!!! You could try a dry cleaner, but once you have dried the clothing the stains are usually set. Instead, let your kids play with color wonder markers. They only mark on special paper. My son loves them. Or, even the regular washable markers are at least clean-able.
Carbona Stain Devils can remove most stains. Get the ink formula (#8, I think). They're sold at most Winn Dixies.
Have you tried hairspray?
Try ammonia, not windex. Straight lemon scented ammonia right from the bottle,(I usually put it in an empty windex bottle.) If that doesn't work try lemon juice, it will also take out chocolate and blood. Good luck. D.
Hi C.,
I'm a customer of a health and wellness company that has an AWESOME product called Sol-U-Mel. It will take off permanent marker and has NO harsh chemicals! There are many other great products as well. You do have to be a member to shop there. I do refer people. If you'd like to know more, please e-mail me at ____@____.com and leave me your number or I can give you mine.
Go to the automotive in walmart and get some simple green and dont dilute it just spray it on and scrub and wash dont dry it. You might have to do a couple of times. My mom had blue fingernail polish on a white blouse and i had to wash about 2 times then it was gone good luck.
I tried Motsenbocker's Lift Off for Pen, Ink, and Marker. It got rid of ink and marker for me. The worst you can do is find out it won't work. It's not cheap, but saving school uniforms is worth it! L.
Hi C.
I had that same problem with my daughters clothes and the laundry detergent that I use and the pre-wash spray I use got it out. The only thing is I do not purchase these at the store I order them on-line. If you would like to know just let me know!!
Thanks

Hi C..
Try 'Goo Gone'. It is fantastic on removing all kinds of stains. The bottle says it works on clothing. I know it works fantastic on everything I have tried it on! Forget the Goof Off from auto parts stores. It could harm the fabric. Good luck.
I think you are going to kiss the dress goodbye, but you might try the dry-erase board cleaner, which comes in a bottle.
None of the degreaser type automotive cleaners are going to work on a dry erase marker stain because it isn't oil based ink. What will work is Murphy's Oil Soap. Here's what a friend of mine did when her daughter got black dry erase marker all over her light pink Easter dress (also only worn once at the time): She applied Murphy's Oil Soap with a small jewelry brush and kept dipping the brush in the soap and rubbing on the stains, moving a towel underneath where she was working constantly to keep the stain from bleeding back through, until the spots were almost gone completely. Then she took a clean damp sponge, applied Dawn detergent on the sponge then rubbed the spots with the Dawn suds on the sponge and it removed the rest of the stain. Then you have to rinse the sponge until it runs clear and keep blotting the spot with the clean sponge and a clean towel underneath until the soap and residue are all blotted out, then launder as directed on the care instructions. It takes some time and patience but it worked for her when nothing else did. She had already tried all of the degreasers, hair spray, stain removers, etc....
I've found that you can get what's called 'GOOF OFF' at Wal-Mart in the paint supplies. It will take out anything.
I've had a good bit of success removing ink with hair spray. Just spray (or pump - it doesn't have to be aerosol) the spot until it's saturated, and wash it in COLD water.
