Hi guys,

Here is the deal, I am not one of those people who reads something and all of a sudden my child has it.... That being said, I just developed 140 pictures and about 3 or 4 of them showed my son having one eye that looks white in the picture. I have not read very much on Retnal Blastoma but what I have read makes me uneasy... So I guess my question is: Have any of you experienced this with your children and if so what doctors would you reccomend...

Thanks in advance for your time...

K.

So What Happened?

Hi guys,

I took my son to a eye doctor today and he checked everything out and all is well... He said that better safe than sorry but it turns out that sometimes the flash can do this depending on the angle of the light.... I feel much better. However I would still suggest to everyone that you have it checked out if this happens to you, it could have been a very bad situation and the earlier you catch it the better your chances... Thank you all for your response and prayers..

K.

Hi, When my daughter was 2 i had looked at some pictures and noticed a white eye and i took her to the doctors that day and they did some eye test and all turned out fine. I would make an appt. a.s.a.p just to be safe. I hope it turns out to be nothing. I will keep you in my prayers.

I don't have any personal experience with this, but here is a website that might have lots of resources for you: http://www.retinoblastoma.net/
It looks like there is a doctor in Miami that specializes in this.
I would get it checked out right away, hopefully it is nothing, but if it is a problem, early detection is the key, from what I have read.
Good luck.

Wow K., i had to respond to your request.
two weeks ago, someone pointed out to me that in the photos i had send the day before one of my daughters had a white pupil (one eye). she explained to me that it is never a good thing if the eye appears white in the photos. ok that got me worried. i went and looked at over 1000 photos i have of her since birth and found two others where her eyes (one at a time, not both) appear white). i called the eye doctor and made an appt the very next day. my daughter is 2. we went in, they checked the vision, did a few tests and finally they said 'we always want to check the eyes if they appear white in photos.' in this case the eye closer to the camera (flash) appears white, which means it was the positioning of my daughter's head. which also meant there was nothing going on.
thats aid, i want to emphasize the fact that they will want to ahve the eyes checked. when this happened i didn't call the ped's office, i figure we go straight to the eye doctor.so to put your mind at ease it is probably nothing but to be on the safe side make an appt.
