Reward for Potty Training

My 3 yr old is finally getting the hang of potty training and we have been using stickers on a chart as rewards each time. When she did 14 days of it she got a big toy and another 14 days she was promised a "car" that most of her friends have like the cozy coupe red and yellow car. My question is...she is tall for her age and I don't want to spend so much on something she may outgrow soon. Do any of you know of a good ride in car that is not very pricey (like the battery operated ones are) that are for bigger kids? I wouldn't mind getting her a motorized one but all the ones I've seen are several hundred dollars and I don't want to spend that much. Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for your responses. We did find a cozy coupe that was on sale so I decided since a few of you said your children were still using it at 5 or older that I'd go ahead especially since I found it cheaper than it usually is. She has one more sticker to get from going stinky and she'll get it. I don't know who's more excited me or her hahahaha I do realize we need to be careful on offering rewards but she really had to work hard and a long time for it so basically she was earning stickers this whole coule of months. But we feel the world is like that, you work you get a paycheck, no work, no money. Now that we know and she knows she can do it I'm sure we'll have to negotiate what's just expected of her and what she can save and earn for. Thanks again for your help.

Reality bites, I know. But I went shopping to find one for my nieces (I have 3) & i can't find any that won't fall apart that are under $300. You're best bet, if this is the route you want to go, is to wait for a sale @ Walmart.

You may want to check out Craig's list. They can have new and used things on it.
Happy hunting.

You may still want to consider the cozy coupe (as mentioned below). My daughter got a cozy coupe when she was 3 (a few months ago) and just loves it. But we have a 1 year old, too, so I knew we would get use out of it.

We also have a motorized Hot Wheel car that was $100 (a couple years ago) at Toys R Us.

Best of luck! -A.

I don't know where you live but there is a place in Independence called overstock freight (www.overstockfreight.com) that has some cheaper motorized vehicles. If not that, what about a bike?

My oldest was tall for his age, but he loved the Cozy coupe cars until he was six! Plus, if you plan to have another baby, it could be passed down to him/her.
I wanted to give one quick word of advice though. Be careful about promising "big items" for normal childhood milestones or she will expect bigger and bigger things. A sticker chart works well with goals to earn small items like McDonald toys or small cars, hair accessories, etc. Good luck and I wish you the best!
