your obgyn is just a phone call away....there are probably different studies from when I got rhogam shots to now that state the shot protects the baby....talk to your doctor ask them why.....it does'n't hurt to ask.
I am 28 weeks pregnant right now with my second pregnancy and I am rh negative. My next doctor appointment isnt for another 3 weeks. I know I am needing a rhogam shot, but should I call my doctor and make a sooner appointment for this shot. is there a negative effect if i have the shot later then the 28 week mark?

I too am rh negative and it should be given as close to 28 weeks as possible. My midwife just had me come in and get it in between appointments. You used to have to go to an infusion center to get the shot, but now a nurse in your OBGYN office can give it. Just call your dr. and let her know you want to make a nurse visit to get your rhogma shot.
I missed my 28 week rhogam shot because of a family emergency. I didn't know at the time that it HAD to be at a certain time, so when I called to re-schedule it was too late to take the shot. That was for my 3rd pregnancy. I was PANICKED my entire 4th pregnancy for fear that something would happen. Everything was fine, but get that shot when you need to! There apparently isn't much "wiggle-room" as to when you should get it.
You need to get it as close to your 28 weeks as possible. I would call your drs office and make sure they know you need one and ask when you can schedule it. I had mine done at the same time as my 28 week labs, which I think were actually done at 29 weeks.
