Don't pay full price! Either borrow it as suggested, buy it used, or wait for a sale. On father's day weekend, they had a half off sale. We used it to get the Chinese program because my husband's step mom's family is Chinese with no English beyond "Hi". We wanted to be able to talk to them at least a little bit. His step mom has listened to several of the lessons and finds it to be very good and thorough.
We love the way the material is presented. It is basically an immersion program where you are looking/listening to it and wondering what the heck they're talking about at first, but it allows you to pick up on the verbal and written patterns as well as principles for each lesson. It gives a good mixture of written and listening practice, as well as practice speaking the language (it grades you on your imitation of the spoken words). It is easy enough for kids to use it but is not a childish program, if that makes sense. So even our kids are working on it some. Definitely worth looking into, in my opinion.
