My cysts never ruptures. But, I have had plenty of cysts. I feel for you, and couldn't imagine how worse I could get. Hope you get to feeling better soon. S.
I was just wanting to know if anyone had a ovarian cyst rupture and how long it took for the pain to go away. I went to the ER on Monday and saw my doctor on Tuesday. I am still on heavy pain pills and am continuing to have cramping in lower abs and back.
Thank you all for your comments. I actually ended up back in the ER yesterday(Sunday) because of the pain. They checked to see if maybe it was a kidney stone but didn't find anything. They got my pain back under control and I see my OBGYN again tomorrow. Thank Goodness! Hopefully he will be able to figure out what is going on. I will update you, but Thanks again for the comments, I really appreciate it.

I had what the ER doctors called a fairly severe ruptured cyst (with some small amount of bleeding) a year ago - in fact, until they did some extensive MRI/sonogram tests, they thought for sure it was my appendix (symptoms are often similar) and had me booked for surgery to remove it (fortunately, the tests showed my appendix was fine). My pain only lasted a day or less, though, so if it was me, I would be concerned that you are still having this much pain. AND I didn't have any cramping - that seems like an unusual symptom to me. You didn't say how they determined it was a ruptured cyst - but if you were in the ER, I'm guessing they did some sort of MRI/sonogram. If you haven't already, I would be sure to consult with your OB/GYN or midwife AGAIN in addition to your regular doctor. I was not aware the pain could be that strong and last that long, as you have described - nor the cramping. If you still don't feel "right" about their explanation - get a second opinion from another OB/GYN. And/or ask for an additional test of some sort to rule out anything else. Trust your instincts and what your body is telling you. Best Wishes! PS - I wanted to add that I looked up ovarian cysts on webmd.com and found some great info - including a link for "what else could be causing these symptoms". Here it is the link - http://www.webmd.com/hw/womens_conditions/hw181646.asp?pa...

Hi C.,
A long time ago I had a cyst rupture but the pain was gone by the time I got to the hospital. I would advise going back to your doctor. He may need to do an ultrasound to see if you had internal bleeding. Good luck!

I know I have alot of cysts on my ovaries, inside and out. I have ALOT of pian and some days its just BAD! I wonder if thie could have been the case for me as well?
I have had a cyst to rupture and also had a tubal pregnancy that ruptured and having to be cut across the bikini line. I think that it just varies with the person and their tolerance for pain, and their activity on how long it takes for the person to overcome it. With both incidence I was only on heavy pain killers for three days. This is also why after surgeries and things related to this nature, they encourage you to get up and moving (also for preventions of blood clots). This way you aren't just sitting there and the pain is building.
I hope this helps.
Hi C.-
Well, I have a lot of experience with Cysts. I had a large one rupture a few years back, and I guess I'll just let you know what I felt. I had immediate stomach pain for several hours, I couldn't even explain how that felt. So I went to the ER, they said that the cyst exploded. I believe I had cramps for a short while, but not much longer. By the next day, I was okay. It didn't really linger that long. I don't think I even took the pain pills. I never liked those and I didn't want to take them! I would suggest that you call your Doctor and let him/her know what is going on. I have frequent problems with cysts and most recently, I had one tangled around my left ovary and they had to remove the cyst & my ovary. So if you are having problems, call your doctor!!! I hope you feel better.
I had two (two months in a row). The first only hurt for a few hours, so I didn't seek any medical advice immediately but in a subsequent Drs appointment I mentioned the pain and late period and was told it was probably that. The following month I had the same thing happen but the pain was so intense and persistent I went to the ER, I was pretty sure it was the same thing the Dr had said but it was on my right side and I worried that it was my appendix. My pain with that one began to subside within about 15 hours of the onset, but I continued to have lingering pains for about a week. If your Dr told you it should have subsided by now I would call them back. Hope you feel better.
Techinically everyone has ovarian cysts that rupture. Thats the menstrual process,so to speak. But in your case, the cyst is probably a different kind of cyst the got larger than it should be. If it has ruptured, you may still have fluid floating around the cul-de-sac,which is inside the uterus. The usually absorbs, but sometime women need to go in and have it drained by their dr. The pain should only last a couple of days. So if you are still experiencing pain, You should call your ob/gyn. U/s will determine if there is fluid or still a cyst present. If there is anything else going on like endometriosis...that will not show up on u/s.
So bottom line if your still in pain...call your dr.

I have had a cyst on my ovary bust years ago... While at the time I wasn't sure what was going on, I was in such pain that I could hardly move. I was in tears, and couldn't say a word to my teacher to explain anything. My pain was only that day, and stopped within a few hours of it busting.....
I'm not sure as to why you would still have pain, you may want to call your doctor again. There may be more to it....
