So I just read an article that says Johnson & Johnson products are not safe for our babies. http://m.jezebel.com/5855115/johnson--johnson-gently-pois... , and after looking over the list of brands tested and found positive, well I don't know what to buy. http://safecosmetics.org/article.php?id=426 That covers almost all of my baby supplies. So what's safe? Has anyone done the research here?
Try California Baby - you can find this brand at Target. I have not had any problems with this product and the calendula cream even got rid of my son's eczema.

I used to us J&J until my son became sooo sick! I learned that even Aveeno has harsh chemicals in them. I now use Koala Pals on my children and we havent had any issues for almost 4 years now! I can get you more info...there is only one online store where you can buy it...but it's concentrated and costs WAY less then grocery store brands.
I still use California baby products for my 5 year old. They are made with all natural ingredients. You can find them at Target. I am sure there are other brands as well.
I really like Burt's Bee products. You can find them in discount department stores now and they aren't terribly expensive (especially the Baby Bee Bar Soap that can be used for body and hair of an infant). The Burts Bee Almond Oil smells great an is good for cradle cap.
I have done some research. Arbonne is hands down the best and safest products not just for Baby but for everyone. I have been telling my friends and family this since 2002. My DIL just posted on FB a few days ago Mom has been telling us for years that Arbonne is the safest, purest and the best products you can find. J & J put something in the shampoo similar to novocaine to numb the eyes so they don't feel the sting but if you notice they still tear up. A lot of my family members had eczema until we started using only Arbonne products none of us are bothered with it anymore. I will PM my web site info to you there is a lot more info there about the products and their safety.
Most other mainstream brands -- even those owned by J&J, like Aveeno and J&J Naturals -- don't contain those two chemicals. Of course, there are tons of other natural options, I'm just pointing out that you can get products without those chemicals anywhere.

Thay have a database on the safetey of most of the major skin care products. It may take you to a page that looks like you must donate to view info, but just click on continue to Skin Deep. At the top right you will see 'score'. You can click on the arrow to sort products by the score and look for product with a 0-2 rating.

Many personal care and household products contain harmful chemicals. If used in a commercial setting, they must be labeled and an MSDS sheet provided but when packaged for personal use full disclosure is not required. They claim to be safe when "used as directed"; however, long-term use of unsafe items (even if used as directed) creates unncessary exposure and poses serious health risks. This is true of shampoo, soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent...you name it! I did do some research about 1.5 years ago. I found a company that manufactures quality, safe, toxin-free, environmentally friendly products and ships directly to you. I am now a marketing rep for them (on the side...not my fulltime job) but even though I don't have time to work the business side of that right now, I am still a loyal customer.
I loved loved loved Baby Magic products. My mother used Baby Magic on her kids and I did with mine as well.
Aveeno is a J&J product.
But I do like the Aveeno line.
All I know is I never had eczema in my life until I had a baby at 39 and started using the J&J products. My hands would be BEET RED after giving him a bath. I switched to Aveeno Baby products and did not have that problem any more.
ETA: I think only the Creamy Baby Bath has formaldehyde--not the other washes.
It's funny-this came out 2 years ago & only now seems to be gaining traction!
So when I read that 2 years ago, I moved the entire family to Dr Bronners unscented baby soap. Its awesome, economical & organic!

Another vote for California Baby. No phthalates or parabens etc. in their ingredients list. I used their lotion, cream and wash (combo body/hair) for my son until he was over 3. I still use their lotion for him but now that he is a bit older (almost 4), I switched him to a natural bar soap for bath.
