Wondering if this would be ok to do for my daughters 5th birthday (her birthday is 3 days after Christmas) she wants to have a pool party so we are going to wait till her 5 1/2 birthday and have it would it be ok if I sent out a save the date around her real birthday letting people know what we are planning?

What can I do next?

Oh, yes, I do this all of the time.. I use evite.com
and it works out great because you start getting a better idea of who may come and who definitely will not be able to attend..

I dont see why not. I always enjoyed my summer pool parties but not everyone is lucky enough to be born in July. I think its a great idea.

I send my daugher's birthday email out sometime in March, because her birthday is June 14th. That is around the time school gets out and everyone is headed on vacation. So I try to send it out with as much notice as possible to let everyone know when we are planning on celebrating.

I think that would be fine. Then just send a reminder about 3-4 weeks before the pool party to remind everyone.

I feel your daughters birthday pain! My birthday is Christmas Eve. I can honestly say I have never had a birthday party on my birthday (or even many parties at all).

my cousin does that, her son's birthday is around christmas, and obviously because everyone is broke, birthday's and christmas go one in the same (not fair) so she has always had his birthday during summer vacation so he can have a party...i wouldn't even worry about "save the date" just when that time comes....send the invitations and let everyone know what age you're celebrating.

I see no harm in it at all. I would actually love to receive a heads up, this way when I know "Jill's" B-day is 12-** and that date has past I know we were not left out, forgotten, or missed it. Also being that it is around the holiday people can budget accordingly.

I LOVE IT

Sure! Great idea. Use www.punchbowl.com for save the date. My sons birthday is Dec 27th and he has always wanted a swim party. We do his birthday in the first couple of weeks of Dec to avoid Christmas burnout. Also, see if there is a place with an indoor pool near by.

I think an e-mail would be fine. I wouldn’t send out actual save the date cards for a 5 year olds party, but just a little note explaining what you’re planning. If she’s anything like my kids, her whole class knows when her birthday is coming up anyway. lol If you’re planning on inviting school friends, keep in mind that schedules change once kids get out of school. If her 5 ½ falls during summer vacation, you might want to plan a month or so early.

hello
I don't see why not... schedules get busy , esp around certain holidays.. so why not send out a reminder. I don't see anything wrong with it in the least...

I would, just so people know whats going on, especially if you usually have her party around Christmas.
