Hello, a couple of weeks ago I went to go see my OBGYN for my 6 week check up after having my little girl. Well of course they did the normal check and also the papsmear. This week my doctors nurse called me back and told me that my papsmear came back with VERY HIGH LEVELS, which could mean there is a risk of me having Cervical Cancer. Of course at that moment my heart dropped! I have had several medical issues going on now for about a year now. First it started with back pain which was an on-going issue throughout my last pregnancy. Then after I had my little girl in October by c-section, I had issues with my legs. The doctors thought that they had hit a nerve during the c-section which was causing the pain and burning feeling in my leg. I also some how managed to lose 30lbs during my pregnancy. My baby was born completely healthy, so I just assumed that I just watched more carefully what I ate this time, and I had just lost the extra weight. Last but not least when I had my first period after the baby, it was horrible. I bleed so bad that NO PAD would work, I really had to use my newborn infants diapers for pads...thats how bad it was, and it was like that for 5 days straight, then it just turned off like a water faucet..It never got lighter or less heavy, it just went away.
So after I got the call from my doctors office I got on webmd and looked up cervical cancer and it appeared that I had all but one symptom..Ongoing leg and back pain, change in menstrual cycle, weight lose..ect...I am really freaked out. I have my colopos..scheduled for next week, but I just want to know if any mother have ever went through this and got a postive result and what happened. What are the chances of everything being ok, if it comes back positive for cancer? I am really trying to stay positive, I am just scared. I have had HPV since I was 17 and now with all of the symptoms that I have I don't know what to think...Thanks for any advice you can give me.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Goodmorning everyone, well first of all I want to thank everyone for there support and kind words. I apoligize that it took so long for me to respond back to what had happened. However I had my colposc...last week, and was pending the results, which I got yesterday. And the results are that I have severe dysplacia...(sorry not the best speller :) ! Its on my cervix and in my canal leading to the uterus. I had to schedule to have surgery on Feb 4th. My doctor said that she was glad that I had gotten my tubes tied when I had my daughter 10 weeks ago, because then she wouldn't have to crush me, by saying that I would never be able to have kids agian after this surgery. So..apparently they are going to take half of my cervix and some of the canal, as they both came back with severe dysplacia, and some spots of cells that worry them. So, please everyone keep me in your prays, and thanks agian for all of the support.

I feel so much for you right now! I am also 29 and pregnant with #5. I can't imagine how that would feel.

Some of your symptoms I also experienced during my last pregnancy and following, (and I had my fourth c-section) so some of it really could be related to the c-section. I think rather then worrying too much about it right now, pray fervently, love your children like crazy, and wait for the new results.

You have my prayers,
S. (mom to 6 YO girl 5 YO girl, 3 1/2 YO girl, 21 month old girl, due with a boy in a couple of months)

Hi S.~ I am very sympathetic to your situation....I too went through a similar issue when I was only 24. I had my 3 children quite young and my husband and I did not want any more, so when my pap smear came back positive for early stage cancer.....we opted for a hysterectomy. I am sure there are many options now.....since I will be turning 50 this week!!! Aaaahhh! but, just want you to know that even though it is terrifying to think about......the odds are in your favor and cervical cancer is not considered aggressive, if that's even what it turns out to be. Honestly, there have been many times when I have had issues over the years....breast lumps...etc...when for some reason, my brain always thought the worst.....(why do we do that to ourselves?).....but everything has turned out just fine! Try to focus on your beautiful family and I'm sure you are in good hands and all will work out for you~ Take care and God Bless~ D.

S.,
I am so sorry you are going through this. I can only imagine how traumatic this is. I would imagine you have been followed closely due to the HPV, so anything that is going on has been short term. Cervical cancer is very curable. I hope that you keep us up to date on your progress.
I wish you the best.
K.

I had a bad pap almost 10 years ago now and had to go in for a colposcopy. I had some spots of precancerous cells, but the colposcopy removed all of them and it hasn't come back. I had not had kids yet when this happened to me and I remember just being so scared that I never would. I now have 2 kiddos....a 3 year old and a 7 month old. Try to keep your worry in check until you go in for the colposcopy. They won't know what is really there until you have that done. Mine wasn't as bad as it all sounded, so it could be a spot they can take out right away. I'll be praying for you. I know it's scary, but try not to worry....they caught it early and it's very treatable!

Because you've just been pg, you probably also had a pap smear at the beginning, so it's only a year since your last one, right? Therefore, if it is cervical cancer, it is early and very curable. I've also had HPV since I was young, and I asked my doctor about coming in more often for pap smears (I've moved around a bit and I've asked multiple doctors actually) and they all told me that twice-yearly tests weren't necessary--a yearly pap smear is good enough to catch very early cervical cancer. So, although you may have some yucky tests/procedures ahead of you, you should be in good shape in the end.

First I would like to say sorry to hear about your problem I am not a Doctor but I want you to seriously listen to me. This is just a recommendation. First you must Pray and enlist prayer from everyone. Then you need to focus on what is postive in you life ( beautiful children ) destress your life try to avoid it. Visualize youself well. Now you have to change your eating habits drink clean water to flush your body, eliminate all sugar, salt, enriched flour, fried food, red meat, dairy, coffee, non herbal tea, chocolate, soda, and alcohol. Now start giving you body what it need like daily supplements. Do you believe cancer can live in a healthy body. i don't. Healthy cells are made up of vitamins, minerals, and protein. The body can heal it self with the right materials.
