We just moved to Mar Vista and I am interested to know what the best schools, preschools, private elementary and high schools are in our area. Where we recently moved from Houston and it was necessary to put your child in the best pre-school in order to get them in the best private school.

We have lived in Mar Vista since 1990, it has changed to a young family neighborhood. Our daughters are 3 & 5 and the best preschool handsdown is New School West located on Venice Blvd. and May street. Local public schools are getting better all the time with great parent involvement.

I have a great day care. But it depends where in Mar Vista you live? I have three child two went all through public the third went to public elem and middle for high school he went (graduating May 31) a college prep HS. Private schools (some not all) look at the child not where they went. If you want more help pls feel free to email and welcome to Mar Vista lived here a long time and its great!!! good luck

Beethoven Elementary, Mar Vista Elementary, and Walgrove Elementary are very good schools. Beethoven has a free pre-k program. LAUSD has pulled permits, so you'll have to go to your home schhol. Go to www.lausd.net to find out which school is your home school. These elementary schools are really good. Save the money for private school for middle & high school.

You're fine for elementary. It gets more tricky for middle and high school. El Segundo High has a program for high achievers. Your child will have to sign a contract to keep his/her grades up to attend. If grades drop, then your child can no longer attend.

Hope that helps.
