Hi mommies! I am looking for different, unique kid party games/activities other than the usual pin the tail on the donkey and the pinata. I am having my son's 1st Birthday party next weekend and the age ranges are from 10 months-11 years old. I know that the babies won't be able to participate, but I am looking for something cool for the other kids. I know that I need to keep in mind of the various age ranges, but I am tired of doing the usual pin the tail on the donkey, pinata, limbo, freeze dance, wrap the mummy, etc. His party is a sports theme.
Any suggestions?
I think it would be fun for all to decorate their own like sugar cookie cake or something. You could have food coloring and diff color icing and sprinkles and different cookie cutters. It's all I can think of with such a big age range

I always like a good ol' fashioned easter egg hunt. Hide dinosaurs if that's your theme. Hide money if you have a pirate theme. Whatever. All kids like this one.
If not decorating cookies, decorate their own cupcake. Toppings could include: froot loops, chocolate chips, sprinkles, fruity pebbles, marsmallows, skittles, M&Ms, etc.

What about a scavenger hunt? Items can be hidden inside or outside if it's nice out. You could make a list of items to find. Children who can't read could pair up with ones that can to find everything on the list.
My daughter just had her 9th birthday party and we did a lot of the games from "Minute to Win it", which were a lot of fun. Your age range is big so it might be tough, but the older kids should have fun. You can probably go on their website for ideas.
We had a 4 arms relay for my son's birthday last week. I cut 2 arm holes below the normal holes in one of my t-shirts so 2 kids were connected through a shirt. They ran to the other side of the yard and picked up a ball. They ran back and forth 4 times (each hand had to have a ball in it). The 2 kids on each team have to be the same height though or the little one either gets choked by the shirt, or can't see.
One game my kids always loved...I don't know what it's called.
You put a bunch of cotton balls on the floor in a small area, have a plastic bowl on the floor, and blindfold the kids. See how many cotton balls they can pick up with a large plastic spoon and get into the bowl only using one hand to scoop in two minutes.
The one with the most cotton balls in the bowl wins.
Safe, non-toxic, non-dangerous, non-messy and pretty funny.
Another one that's fun is having them hold an orange between their knees and having them walk it to the other side of the room and drop it in a pan or bowl. Or have a relay with them tucking oranges under their chins and passing it to the next person using no hands.
Put different words on post-it's and place one on each of the kid's backs.
They can be everyday words like car, laugh, eggs, mail, dinner....
Each kid tries to guess the word based on clues from the other kids taking turns with a clue. But they can only use one word clues.
You can do the reverse of that and give each child a word for them to give clues and see who else can guess first.
These things can be surprisingly good for the laugh factor.

Relay races! Egg/peanut/bouncy ball on spoons--run down & around a marker than back & pass to next team member.
Balloon waiter/ghost waiter -- relay race as above but with an inflated balloon balanced on a paper plate for the relay.
Drop clothespins in a bottle?
Have you seen Minute To Win It? We just attended a Halloween party where the kids did the cookie on the forehead-scrunch face til the cookie is in their moths and it was hilarious!
