Has anyone tried either of these or have an opinion? I really need to loose a lot of weight and have not been successful on my own. I was wondering if these are as great as the commercials say they are.

A friend of mine did Jenny Craig for a little while. She had to stop because she kept getting kidney stones. The doc said the meals with Jenny Craig and Nutrasystem can work because they are portion controlled but they are also processed foods. She ended up losing her plan payment (OVER $400!) but she changed to using Lean Cuisine and Smart Ones instead along with adding salads and fresh fruits and veggies in between and for extra sides. She has so far lost over 50 pounds. She also works out 4 times a week at home while her son is sleeping. Also, no kidney stones. Seattle Sutton is supposed to be freshly prepared foods so there may be a difference there. If you need a support group, check out TOPS-taking off pounds sensibly. A woman I worked with years ago went to their group meetings.

I don't know much about how those two programs work, but I've learned a lot about how diets in general work. You have to be careful not to cut calories too drastically or you end up putting your body into famine mode. You'll start storing fat and burning muscle.

I've been using a program that includes leucine in the shakes and meal bars to help build up muscle while losing weight. It also comes with a computer program that helps you track your calories and percentages of fat, carbs, and protein.

feel free to send me a message or check out the website if you want to know more.

I successfully lost weight on Seattle Sutton. I needed to have my portions controlled -- and Seattle Sutton offers a 1200 calorie diet and 2000 calorie diet (usually for men). The food is fresh and needs to be refrigerated. I was impressed with the food quality (even the fish entree was decent.) If you stick to eating only the 1200 calories of food they give you, you will definitely lose weight. (Remember, 1200 calories is NOT much food!!) There are 3 meals a day -- no snacks, however, I used to save some of the food from lunch to have as an afternoon snack. There are 5 (or 6) weeks of meals until you repeat a meal, so I thought the variety of food was excellent.

Compared to other diets with supplied food, Seattle Sutton is very expensive. I did this when I was single and had enough disposable income. I didn't have to cook for anyone else, so I emptied my kitchen of all other snacks and temptations -- and kept myself from cheating. I think I lost about 2-3lbs a week, consistently, without adding any exercise. Good luck!

EDIT: You have to pick-up your food twice a week, on Monday and Thursday evenings. So you are only getting half a week of food at a time.

L., I have found a program that worked great for me and my husband. I think it would be a great alternative to either program or work in conjunction with them to give you that extra boost for weight loss. The system is called Core 4 and you can get more info at www.c4weightloss.com. You can order on the join for free tab. They offer a 100%, 90 day money back guarantee and it is natural, organic and clinically proven. I have lost 10 pounds and my husband has lost 15 pounds in just two months! We have also seen people losing 30 pounds in this amount of time, it all depends on how much you have to lose. If you have any questions or want to take a look at the study, just let me know.

I'd select Seattle Sutton over Jenny Craig any day. Why? Jenny Craig is more 'highly processed foods' whereas Seattle Sutton is about as close to 'natural' that you're going to get with a meal-plan, weight-loss type system. Really, are you going to eat cereal bars and shakes and other junk for the rest of your life OR do you want to eat a variety of real food?
