Second Pregnancy Pain Towards End

I'm at the 37 week of my second pregnancy and I am feeling a lot of pressure pushing down and back pain (like when you get your period-but more painful). My doctor says it's normal, but something just tells me that this isn't right. I'm curious what other women have experienced with their second pregnancies. I do have a 2 1/2 year old that I'm tending to all day so I'm sure all the bending and chasing has contributed to this, but I just wanted to get some feedback from other moms. I have nagging pain all day. Not enough to make me get in bed, but nagging enough to make for bad days.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

I don't know if it's "normal". But, I had that with my first child... and not to scare you but I had really bad back labor too. It could be just the position of the baby this time. Both my babies were head down but for some reason the first one killed my back the whole last trimester and I ended up having back labor. You may just be having pre-labor pains too. That's what it was for me. It felt like just what you described.

I had hip dysplasia and my pubic joint was separating due to the loosening ligaments in my belly. I had a ton of pressure in my lower pelvic region and in my back as well. It hurt to walk, stand, lay down. There was literally no relief except labor and delivery itself, and then it was still months before I was right again.

That was my experience. The good news is that you only have a little bit to go and when that baby is in your arms you will know like only a mommy can that it was all worth it.

Congratulations!!

Check with the Int'l Chiropractic Pediatric Assn and get a chiro to check you out, The pelvis must be lined up properly, and easy to go out in the 3rd tri, might be what you have, sounds like it.
best,k

I am 28 weeks with my 3rd and I am having the same pain. I did have it with my 2nd but not till later. So, I was worried having it so soon and asked my doctor. They assure me it is just normal and will just happen sooner and probably worse with a 2nd or 3rd etc. I get it even if I am sitting all day, it just seems to be shifting more easily and more pressure no matter what I do. It it gets really bad, I do take a Tylenol and it helps sometimes. I have heard maybe a support band would help, but haven't tried that yet. Good luck! It will be here quick for you!

I was in a ton of pain towards the end of my 2nd pregnancy too. I couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes without being in excruciating pain. It made taking care of my then almost 2-year-old very interesting! You are almost there! Good luck!!

My second pregnancy was miserable.i was in so much pain from 6 months on that i could barely do anything. My son was sitting on nerves that made my hands so numb and painful that I couldnt even hold a pen to sign my name. My legs and back would hurt so bad that no position helped, sitting, standing, laying down nothing. I feel you pain but please dont worry. Everything will be fine. i had a three year old I was chasing after too so I understand. Its almost over...just remember every pregnancy is different so just cause this is new to you doesnt mean that something is wrong. If your really worried though have them do an ultrasound to check the baby out. My pain ended up being because my son was 9lbs 15oz OUCH. My first pregnancy was so different partly because my daughter was only 7lbs. It scared me too but everything is fine now and I am sure you will be too. Good luck for now and D day

I had major back pain during my first pregnancy. The doctor told me that is it normal and just the baby pushing down on my tail bone. She was perfectly normal when she was born and is 24 now and beautiful, smart and talented. She has graduated from USF with two majors, got an EMT certificate and is working on getting into med school to be a doctor. If the baby quits moving then I would worry...

It may be the position of your baby. The back of its head pushing against your tailbone. You could also be having some BH contractions. My first hours of labor acutally felt exactly like what you are describing--I called a friend that was labor and delivery nurse and told her I felt like my period was coming. She said, "No, you dumb#$%, your BABY is coming!"...lol.

I went on regular visits to the chiropractor and masseuse throughout my pregnancy...it certainly helped things from getting all knotted up.

If it doesn't feel right, get check. I had a sharp pain, like a needle in my uterus and couldn't walk off the pain like earlier in the week. It turned out i was 4cm dialated and in labor. Get a babysitter and go get check out. It couldnt hurt and it will give you peace of mind
