Seeking a Catholic Church in Tampa

I would like to find a Roman Catholic Church in Tampa that has an active Children's ministry and possibly cub/boy scouts. I would also like to find one with a good Life Teen Mass or just excellent music and vibrancy. We are moving to Tampa this summer from Seattle, and I will so miss our loud noisy ROCKING Teen mass!

What can I do next?

I love Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Land o' Lakes. The Teen Mass is Sunday at 6pm.

Hi A.
Welcome to Tampa!
A lot of my friends are Catholic (I'm a Baha'i) so I'll ask them! What part of town will you be in?
all the best,
L.

PS - I have 3 kids (5, 14,10). Hope you'll enjoy it here. There's a lot to do. We aren't as progressive as Seattle environmentally, I'm sad to say. I am involved with a nonprofit, nonpolitical coalition of parents and educator working to make our schools more environmentally friendly, so let me know if you're interested! :-)

Hi A.
I've moved around a lot and Tampa is a pretty conservative diocese. Rockin' masses aren't their thing. That being said, if you will be living in the northwest tampa area or the Lutz area, St Tim's is a really great family oriented church.

We attend St. Paul's which is on the North side of Tampa and is a pretty traditional church. We enjoy the services very much. I have heard that St. Timothy's is considered a more "modern" style church w/o kneelers etc. and may be a more energetic style church. It located in north Tampa/Lutz area. Our son attends Incarnation Catholic School and I really like their services as well but it is located further away. I don't know what your congregation sizes are in Seattle, but down here most of the churches have 3 and 4 thousands registered families, so they provide many different opportunites for the family to be involved in different groups and services. I was surprised, when we moved here, how few Catholic Churches there are for the size of the city. Good luck!

Hi A.,

I don't practice, but when my mom visited, she loved St Lawrence's. Here's the link http://www.stlawrence.org/

Not sure it will be your style, but you might check it out.

our Bishop does not allow the ROCKING mass you are looking for. he has certain requirements about music. secular Christian is only allowed at certain masses - generally the youth mass. you can go to http://www.catholicweb.com/directory.cfm?fuseaction=searc...

this is a list of all the Catholic Churches in Tampa.

you can call the ones near you and ask about their teen masses and youth group.

at my church - Saint Joseph in Zephyrhills, we have one mass a month that has secular Christian music with a band.
