We have recently been dealing with my son having fluid in his ears. He's been sick twice in the past 6 months. When we bring him to the doctor - pediatrician- he checks and tells us he has fluid in his ears. It gets better for about a month, then it's right back. He wants us to wait till December to see if it's still there, but it's been there for quite some time. I really want to get him into a specialist because I can tell his hearing is not good. He doesn't speak well at all. It seems as though his speech is regressing , getting worse. He can no longer pronounce words correctly, everything is ahh or blaahhh. He is only 23 months old, but I just don't think his speaking should be getting worse. And I know it's because of the fluid making him not able to hear. The pediatrician says that he may need tubes in his ears and i've heard good things about this, but the pediatrician is not a big fan of it. Is there anyone out there that has been through this, who's had there child @ this age get tubes in there ears. I don't know if it's possible that it will go away again and get better then he'll be able to speak clearer. Anyone know of a good Specialist to bring him to??

What can I do next?

What part of town are you in? We have a wonderful ENT who has offices in Roswell and in Atlanta near Scottish Rite. His name is Dr. Keith Jackson. Here is the link to his website http://northsideents.com/index.htm. He has audiologists in the office who can check your son's hearing and he's just great with children. He's put two sets of tubes in my little boy's ears. My son's speach is much better, and he hasn't had an ear infection since Jan. I wouldn't delay getting him checked by an ENT. We waited too long and it definitely affected my son's speech development. If either one of his locations works for you, then I definitely recommend Dr. Jackson!

We LOVE Dr. James Thomsen at Pediatric Ear, Nose & Throat of Atlanta. They have two locations...one near Scottish Rite and the other in Alpharetta. Their phone number and website are ###-###-#### and http://www.childrensent.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/site.spl....
My daughter had multiple ear infections and he was so great with her(8 months at the time) and very thorough in explaining things to me. I recommended him to another friend and her two children have both seen Dr. Thomsen. She also loves him. It takes a while to get an appointment so call soon! Best Wishes!

We had to put tubes in my 24 month old daughter just recently. she had been sick off and on for 2 months with several ear infections. After being on so many strong antibiotics(about 5 back to back), our pediatrician recomended an ENT. we were sent to Dr. Benjamin White with ENT of Georgia. their phone # is ###-###-####. We put the tubes in about 1 week later and have been doing very well since. it was a bit scary, but it is totally worth it. hope this helps! you can contact me directly if you have any other questions.
