My son is almost 19 months old. I have not been happy with his pediatric visits and would be thrilled to find a doctor that takes time and does not treat us as just another file. If anyone likes their pediatricians please let me know. I would really like to find a new one.

What can I do next?

We LOVE my son's pediatrician, and plan to take our daughter (due Jan. 4) to the same physician when she arrives. He goes to Dr. Richard Glover with Children's Faith Pediatrics. The other physician in the practice is Dr. Perry. Both are excellent, the office staff is friendly and quick to respond to calls, questions, appt. requests, etc. We've always gotten in quickly for sick visits and have had a wonderful experience overall from day 1. My son is 21-months-old and has been going there since birth. They are located off Northshore Drive about a mile west of Morrell Road -- on Branton Blvd. They're also open half a day on Saturdays, and have a line to call after hours and on weekends if needed. If you'd like to call to check them out or see if they're accepting new patients, your insurance, etc., the number is ###-###-####.

Best of luck finding the perfect fit for your little guy,
H. (& Luke)

I know that it is a bit of a drive, but you could try getting into Oak Ridge Pediatrics. It is over by the Oak Ridge hospital, and it is GREAT there. My daughter always sees the same NP and she loves her. They remember her no matter how long it's been since we've been there and they LISTEN to what we say to them about my daughter. She sees Mary Cathy (nurse practitioner), and the number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

Hey J.. I'm not sure what part of Knoxville you live in, But I live in West Knoxville and I take my daughter to Dr Rhea. His office is near the Kroger on Northshore Dr. I really love him and his nurse practitioner Laurie. He is VERY attentive and if you have 45 minutes worth of questions, he will literally sit there and answer each one. That being said, I recommend getting the 1st appointment of the day or going in right after their lunch break b/c you tend to have to wait because he is so attentive. At my daughter's 2 month well visit last week we had to wait about 30 minutes, but he personally was in the room with us for almost 20 and we didnt really have many questions. The nurses are great too. The male nurse that gave my daughter her first shots did it so fast that she barely cried. Hope this helps!

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Stephanie Shults. Her staff is wonderful; they remember us everytime we come in and treat all their patients likes family and are always smiling. If your child is sick, 99% of the time you can get in that day to see her. Her office is only a few years old and she is totally paperless; all exam rooms have laptops in them. The Nurse Practinoner that also sees patients is the sweetest woman ever and always remembers us each visit as well.

I like Dr. Shults approach to care because she doesn't go overboard with testing or prescriptions. It's a very practical approach and she always considers how we would like to handle an illness. When my son had RSV and had to be hospitalized when he was 2m old, Dr. Shults was there everyday twice per say, some days at 5am. There were plenty of other docs there treating him and she could've just done her orders and care via the phone.

She also has an in office lab so most bloodwork can be done in office and the results are also in office. I cannot say enough good about them; my kids absolutely love all of them and actually ENJOY going to see them!

The other thing I really like is that she is a solo practice. That way my kids don't have to be nervous or scared with a new doc every other time we go in. I feel it's more personalized being a solo practice but that's just me.

Dr. Shults phone number is ###-###-#### and she is located off of Pellissippi at Northshore. It's about a 25min drive for us but very worth it.

Hope that helps!

D.

We see Dr. Lisa Padgett with Knoxville Pediatric Associates on Weisgarber. She has two young kids of her own and worked in the Children's Hospital ER for 8 years I believe. She is so wonderful, patient, and thorough, without being paranoid. She takes time to explain things, but doesn't dwell when all is well. She remembers things the kids told her the last time we saw her, and even notices when I get a haircut! I have also really enjoyed the other doctors there we have seen for sick appointments when she has been busy or out. Good luck!!

Hello J.,
I'm not sure what part of Knoxville you are in, but I go to Knoxville Pediatrics at Weisgarber. They have several offices around town. We moved here in August, I have three sons under four years old. They all see Dr. Swabe, and I love him! He really takes his time and talks to the children. If you would like any more information, message me and I will be happy to get you whatever you need. Good luck!

G.
