Seeking a Place to Board Our Dogs for 10 Days

Hello,

We are going to a family reunion in August and we will be gone for about 10 days. Normally when we leave town we have someone come in twice a day to let our dogs out and feed them. I think doing that for 10 days is too long to leave them alone for the majority of the day. And it would be very expensive to do it that way as well.

Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced place to board our dogs? I'm located in Prairie Village but am willing to drive a bit to find the right place.

Thank you for your help.
R.

Mission Road Animal Clinic or Martin City Animal Hospital both offer boarding for reasonable prices. We have used both and have been happy with both.

Have a fun and safe trip!

There is a really great place that we have boarded our dog called Pete and Mac's. They are great and there are many extras you can get for your dog if you want. They have a location in Lenexa, we haven't been to that one because we live in Lee's Summit but I would think since they are a chain all of the locations would be similar. If you want to check out their web site it is www.petemac.com.

We went to Hideaway Shop on 60th & Mission in Fairway next to the animal hospital. They have play time and such. I don't remember how much it was, but I know it wasn't anything I considered unreasonable. Max loved it.

if your trip is before college starts you might find a college student to come and stay at your house and take care of the dogs. They are always looking for ways to make some extra money for college. I know there are a few in our church that have done this and enjoy being away from home as they still come home and live at their parents during the summer break.

We liked Hideaway Petcare @ 60th and Mission, next door to Fairway Animal Hospital. They take the dogs out to a place in the country with big concrete runs, and take them out during the day to throw a ball for them. Your dogs could probably stay together in one run. It was reasonably priced IMO at $16/night. Good luck!

The place Kelly was talking about is called KC Pet Ranch. I have not been there but have heard great things about it.

We use the Pet Ranch (www.petranch.com, ###-###-####) located in Olathe on 151st between Pflumm and Quivira. We have used them several times for boarding, and also take our dog for grooming. They have a large indoor and outdoor play area for the dogs; the dogs get a lot of exercise and play while there. One last thing - the owners are very friendly, personable, and quickly began remembering us and our dog. Good luck!

I HIGHLY recommend Pawz at Play located in OP at about College and 69 Hwy. They are the most wonderful people and we love, love, love taking our dog there. They even offer a free trial run if you'd like to take your dogs for a couple hours one afternoon to see if you/they like it.

Our dog always comes home tired and happy. Plus they give you a report card describing each day. They will call you if they need to, but otherwise you can be happy knowing they're safe. They have a staff person on duty 24 hours/day. I just can't say enough wondeful things about them! Check them out!

Robin,

We love dogs, so we do petsitting in our home. We have a large, fenced yard, and our own dog is a house dog. The only problem we've ever had is if the dog(s) we're watching don't get along with our Libby. That's really only happened with one dog, and we had to keep them separated. We just had Molly, the other dog, be downstairs or outside when Libby was upstairs, or vice versa. Our downstairs is a finished basement, and there's usually someone down there since our main computer is downstairs, as well as a TV and game table.

We live in Kansas City, north of the river, but are probably less than a half hour from you. We live a little south and west of Metro North shopping center.

Let us know if we can be of help, and I'll give you a price for our service. Call or e-mail.

Blessings,
M. Stump

There's a new place I can't remember the name out in Olathe on 151st & Pflumm, across from the executive airport. It used to be a horse stable so it is huge and the dogs have lots of land around to run and play.
