Seeking a Post-pregnancy Weightloss Program Where You Still Eat Meals You Cook

I had my 2nd baby almost 10 months ago and am still breastfeeding him. I plan to continue as long as he wants but I would really like to try to loose the last 10 pounds so that I can (hopefully) get back to my regular clothes. I have been looking for a weight loss program that will work with my family. We don't eat out much and usually eat what we cook at home. I would be happy to make some changes about what I'm cooking but don't want to eat some Weight Watchers meals while my family eats something else. Does anyone have any experience with any of the weight loss programs, good or bad? Any advice, besides exercise more?

You can eat anything on Weight Watchers. You don't have to eat their meals or use their recipes-although my family loves some of their recipes! It's the most realistic plan out there and just uses portion control, awareness, exercise and support to lose weight.

Geez, I should work for Weight Watchers. I know you have never been on weight watchers considering your comment about "weight watchers meals", because there is no such thing. Weight Watchers just teaches you how to eat, correctly. I make meals for my family everynight that works into my diet and is healthy for my family. It has made my whole family eat healthier and they never complain, they dont even notice the difference really. Weight Watchers has a program for breastfeeding moms. I am breastfeeding and on it. I've lost 9 lbs in less than 3 weeks. :)

I joined caloriecounter.com after a recommendation from this website (it's free). You have to log everything you eat and how much you work out. I lost my 10 lbs of baby weight in about 6 weeks--I am so happy to have it gone! If you are breastfeeding you get extra calories and they will figure that in.

Try myfitnesspal.com - it's a free calorie/exercise counter. It's online and has apps for android and blackberry phones. You fill in your basic data height/weight/amount to lose and it tells you your daily calorie goal. You put in what you eat and how much you exercise and it keeps track of everything for you. It also gives you a way to track your weight loss.

Nevermind all that food stuff. Exercise is the answer. Join a gym that has childcare. I don't know if there is a Y in your area. If there is go there. Put your older child in swimming lessons and go into an aerobics class or a yoga class. Yoga you can do at home while the baby is sleeping. I know they tell you to do 40 minutes but even if you catch twenty twice a day or even half an hour you'll become thinner over time.
You live in Florida surrounded by water. Every child needs to know how to swim.
I'm not an advocate of the weight loss diets.They just turn your into a gain and loss freak gaining more everytime you put it back on. Exercise has kept me fit.

You dont need to buy and eat any "Weight Watchers" meals. You follow their plan and advice and make regular meals for the whole family and then use some self control when taking your portion. Weight Watchers incorporate all foods within reasonable ammounts. Some other "diet plans" make you buy their food, deliver it to your door. It makes it impossible to stay on track when dining out, or at a party, and you have no skills when done with their plan. You cant just go back to eating like you did before or you gain it all back (with extra) WW teaches you how to choose your foods while at home or out to dinner, at parties and when ever you arent the cook. It all boils down to needing to eat less and wiser, and exercise more.

Portion control is the key to losing weight. The first thing to do is take a pad of paper and pen and write down everything you eat for 2 weeks. Eye measure the amount and really see what you are eating. Look over your list very carefully for places to cut. For instance dinner should be a piece of meat about the size of a deck of cards, 1/2 cup starch (potatoes-rice-noodles) about a cup of veggies. Add a big salad with low-fat dressing, this helps to fill your stomache. Keep fresh fruit on hand for snacks.
Exercise will take the pounds off also. After breakfast take the kids out for a walk and if there is a parlk nearby play with them there for 30-60 minutes, then walk home. The kids will be tired and ready for a light lunch and a nap. Check out exercise videos at the library, Goodwill and other thrift stores. Once you get the kids down for their nap, toss in a load of laundry and exercise with the video. After dinner take hubby and the kids out for a walk, bring them home and it's bath time and ready for bed.

My husband and I have been doing The Abs Diet (created by the editor of Men's Health magazine) and i've lost 6 pounds and he's lost 15 in two weeks. We like it because we're never hungry and the food is actually really good. My two kids eat it all too! I also started running using the couch to 5k program back in January and now I run 3-4x a week for 35 minutes, and do strength training those days also.

I've done a few different things-Medi Weightloss Clinic (lost weight, but too restrictive), Dukan Diet (sooo boring eating protein only every other day, no variety in the veggies etc). Weight Watchers was a bust for me. I just didn't get into it. But I love myfitnesspal.com. Its FREE. I can eat anything and the recipe builder tells me the exact calories. I can track my exercise. I use it online and on my android on the go. I've lost 22 pounds so far. The online support community is awesome! You learn a lot from other people. I sound like an advertisement. Sorry. Give it a try!

Maybe just do it the old fashioned way-count calories. Figure out how many you need to lose weight and still bf and then just keep a log of what you eat. Watch your simple carbs-stay away from sugar and white flours. Use only good fats and use them sparingly (olive oil, sunflower, flaxseed) Nothing fried and don't drink your calories (juice, soda, milk)

By not eating out you are right off the bat much better than most trying to diet. People way underestimate how much they eat in a restaurant.
