Hi,
I live in a town house and want to have my back garden landscaped. The garden is small measuring 24 x 16 ft. Currently, I have grass that refuses to grow, questionable lack of sunlight and have some dismal looking plant boxes round the periphery, so this garden definitely needs a makeover !! Does anyone have a recommendation for a good landscaping company which can help me with some creative ideas to make this garden more pleasing to the eye? I live in Mountain View and would be very happy to hear your thoughts and ideas as I emmigrated here from London some years ago, hence my lack of knowledge on this issue !!

What can I do next?

Hello-
I am a realtor with HIGH standards on who I refer. I have a WONDERFUL landscaping company that I use and have referred. They just did a big remodel on my backyard and I interviewed about 12 companies. They were the best with customer service and ideas. Pricing was about low-average.

What kind of garden are you considering? Low-water? Edible? Purely ornamental? I'm a Master Gardener in Palo Alto, and I occasionally do small garden designs and installs. I'm a mother of a 9 year old, so I only work mornings and early afternoons while my son is in school :). I charge $40/hour for both the design component and for most installations - pretty reasonable, as you'll find out if you check around :). I don't do any fancy design stuff (just pencil on graph paper), but you're welcome to come see my front yard and (in-progress) back yard plus the graph-paper designs if you'd like :). If you're looking for something more professional, let me know and I can get you the names of some other Master Gardeners in the area who work full-time as designers/landscapers.

We had our gardener do most everything. If you need a landscape architect first, cannot really help. But putting it all in, walkways, pavers, fences, etc. I can get you my guy's name and number. Ramon Messina Landscaping Services. Don't have his number but can get it.

My nephew is in the landscaping business. He's done many jobs in the Santa Clara County area. So far its just him and his partner that do all the work. He's very dependable and takes pride in the work he does.

A little about me:
I am married and live in San Jose. I work parttime and I have two teenagers, a boy 14 years and one girl 17 years.
