I have been a WAHM since my oldest (5) was born. I have been with a governmental consulting firm as a database coordinator. I was determined and I put out networking feelers everywhere. I found this job when a neighbor was complaining about someone in her office not coming back after maternity leave. I asked what she did and if it could possibly be done at home if I provided the internet connection, materials and computers. Turns out the company was desperate enough to try it since I made it easy on them and I was hired as a temp. That was 5 years ago and I'm still going strong.
First, you need to do some soul searching and figure out what you want to do, what you can do, when you can reasonably do it, how much you need to make and how much your family is willing to help.
Are you good at sales? If so, what interests you? I have a friend who is making GREAT Money with Slumber Parties (romance toys) but that may not be your style. You have to love what you are selling. KWIM? Could you start your own business like tutoring seniors on computer software? Tutoring HS kids? Cleaning houses? Use your imagination!
Working at home sounds great, and it is, but there are some drawbacks. I am home with my girls all day and after dinner, my hubby takes over childcare (bathing, cleaning the kitchen, bedtime routine) while I work from 6-2. If I don't get all of my work done, or if we choose to have a family night, I have to work on the weekends. And sometimes if there is a special project, my hubby has to take a day off work! I really miss the bedtime routine with my kids but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make so that I can be here during the day with them.
Good luck!
