The BOB! Love it! Lightweight, folds in a snap, has a basket underneath!!!! A little pricey, but Costco has them right now and are a little cheaper than online or in stores.

Hi J.,

I have the BOB revolution and I LOVE it! I think I would have only gotten it had I known what I know now. The biggest thing I found when I got my jogging stroller is, make sure the front tire swivels. The first jogger I got did not swivel in the front and it was so hard to push. I got more of a work out trying to push it than jogging. Good Luck!!

I love my Schwinn!! I have the double of this model...
http://www.stroller.com/stroller-schwinn-freewheeler-al-r...
I did a lot of research before buying and the most common complaint of joggers seemed to be that the sun shade was useless...This one has an oversized shade and has worked out great for late afternoon walks when the sun is setting. The only complaint I would have is that the underneath storage basket is really low to the ground and anything heavy in it makes it drag on the ground. Other than that I LOVE IT!!

It depends on what you want it to do. I have a BabyTrend Expedition (very inexpensive) and I love it. It is exptremely basic (no child tray, no music) but has everything I need (wrist strap, hand break, parking break, large non-swivel tires).

In regards to the swivel vs stationary, it depends whether you want it to be convenient on walks/in the store or stable on long runs. The swivel wheels definitely make it easier to navigate corners, but these wheels are smaller and tend to wobble even in the locked position, making for a less smooth ride on a long run (and if you don't get them lined up correctly to lock them, the stroller will tend to pull to one side as you run).

Hey J. j
My little one is 5 1/2mths I have the "Baby Trend Expedition" jogger with the car seat that attaches to it. This is great for me with my dogs and exercising. Has Cup holders, the front wheel swivels, and lots of sorage for keys. The car seat is very secure also and my baby loves it. There is even a safety strap to put on your wrist in case you trip or your dog stops for the sudden potty break and the stroller won't roll awat from you. There are also breaks.I don't know how much your baby weighs but I also will take walks with my baby in the "Bajourn" front holder. That way I have my hands free and adds alittle bit more of adiffrent workout as long as you don't have a bad back.

LOVE IT.

Hi J.,

Here are some suggestions when picking your stroller:

*Make sure it has the rotating front tire - especially if you are taking your dog with you. Being able to steer easily is really helpful.
*Make sure the storage basket is big enough for all of the stuff you might need and not so big that you kick it when you are jogging (this is more of a problem if you are tall!)
*Make sure that the handle adjusts to the right height for you.
*Cup holders, cup holders, cup holders!
*A sun shade with good coverage.

I have one made by Jeep, which I like, but the front tire doesn't rotate and I wish it did. We picked this one because it works really well for us tall people.

Good Luck.

GET A BOB!!!! BOB revolution it is the best. I love mine and I can walk with my dog and baby. Go to Goores or REI to check it out. I got mine from REI at the half year sale. I am in a play group and I like the BOB Revolution the best I tested out many joggers. You can lock and unlock the front wheel to make it easy to go on grass and the lame woodchips at the park!

Hi, I bought the Bob Duallie 2007 Jogger. It is a stroller specifically for Jogging. Here is a link to the stroller: http://www.joggingstroller.com/BOB-Duallie.pro. I love this stoller but am regretting not buying one with a swivvle wheel. My jogging partner has the Bob Strides Double Jogger: http://www.joggingstroller.com/BOB-Stroller-Strides-Duall... and I love hers because of the swivel wheel. It is perfect, light and easy to steer (which is so important, because double joggers can be hard to push as your children grow. Especially when you are tired :)). The strides has the option of locking the front wheel. I highly recommend Bob strollers due to their quality and ease of use. Just get one with the swivel wheel!! I am planning on selling mine for $300 on craigs list this weekend, if anyone is interested. It is gently used and was purchached in early 2007. It is great for a serious jogger, but because I use it for walking I am going for the Bob Strides with an adjustable wheel.

I used to have the Baby Trend, but really didn't like pushing it because it was so hard to turn and it was really big so it wouldn't fit in the trunk of my car easily.

I just bought the Phil & Ted's and LOVE it. It's really easy to push, and folds very easily. The only thing I don't like about it is there is no snack tray and the canopy doesn't adjust so I can keep up with the sunlight. However, we are expecting our second in May and the compactness of the stroller totally outweighs those two things.

I would agree with other suggestions. Go to a stroller store and push them all around, with your kid in it. Having the baby in the stroller when you push it makes a HUGE difference on how it handles.

Hi J.,

I would have to agree with Ashley, the BOB revolution stroller is the best! It has the front swivel wheel that can lock as well. It pushes very easily, so it is great for running, or just being able to get around. It is nice to be able to walk, hike and go up rough roads. I use mine everyday! It is pretty expensive ($~350) but worth every penny. You can go on craigslist or ebay and probably get it cheaper, but if you go to REI, they are great help!

Good luck!

I own a baby boot camp franchise, so I get this question often. I've pushed a lot of different strollers too...

Some of the responders here have the right idea about a swivel wheel, and some don't. It may seem like a great convenience, but if you're actually going to be jogging, it can be a hazard. If the front wheel swivels, make sure you lock it down before jogging.

I taught a class once when a dad went jogging with a BOB without the front wheel locked in place and the wheel went out of control, the stroller stopped suddenly and the dad almost went flying on top of the stroller.

While the BOB strollers I've pushed have been great, I've heard a lot of them have been getting flat tires (I can think of 4 flat tires on 3 strollers in the last month). I don't know if that's some fluke.

The Phil and Ted's people seem to be really happy with, but the wheel diameter isn't really big enough for real jogging. The one I've pushed... the break is a major pain to use!

The best thing you can do is go to a store with a variety of them, try them out and look at how it folds, can you lift it once it's folded, how does the break operate, does the seat recline, can you lock the swivel wheel down...

If you do choose to buy a used stroller, I suggest getting it serviced at a bike store before you use it (the nuts and bolts get loose on those things, so it's good to get them serviced once you use yours for a while too).

Here's a helpful article on how to choose a jogging stroller...

hi, J.

on advice from several friends, we went with the BOB and haven't looked back. we got the revolution, with the swivel/locking front wheel. the swivel is great for walking & manuevering in the store - the locking is a safety feature for jogging. we have used this stroller exclusively since our son was born - in fact, he hasn't been jogging in it yet b/c he's still too small! but we got the car seat adapter & figure we got an extra six-month's use out of it & didn't have to buy yet another stroller. it folds up easy & fits in the back of my passat wagon with room to spare. we also got the cup holder & diaper bag to go with (the diaper bag mostly for hubby - looks like his timbuk2 work bag). anyhow, yes, it's a bit pricey, but you'll be able to use it for years. i "built" the one i wanted online, printed out the info & took it to jared at the napa running company and he ordered it for me - so easy!

good luck & happy trails. and, if you're in the napa area, we have a group that meets several times a week for running - saturdays @ 8:30 a.m. & thursdays @ 6:00 p.m., plus a track workout on tuesdays. check us out if you're interested at ____@____.com

Hi J.,
I agree with several other moms, the BOB Revolution stroller is awesome! It is expensive, but well worth it if you are going to use it on a regular basis. I have several friends that have it and love it, too. It's extremely durable and folds up much smaller than my regular stroller.

I have a BOB Revolution and I love it. The only draw backs are that it's a little big and if you want a handelbar tray or a snack tray for your little one their extra. But it manuvers really well (the front wheel swivels but can be locked in place for running) and it's super sturdy.

J.,
I purchased a Jeep jogger from Craigslist and have been extremely happy with it. I got it used for $75 and trained all last year for triathlons and it did just fine. It even has a steering wheel with buttons and music for my daughter and has a plug in for my radio with external speakers for me. My daughter is now 2 and still loves it. It folds up and also has a swivel wheel. I have a Mitzubishi Outlander and it fits just fine in the back (if you're worried about space). Good luck and hope you find one that suits your needs.

Ok hands down the very best jogger out there is the "Bob Revolution". It is a bit expensive but i guarentee it will be the best investment you have ever made. I have a doubble revolution for my two kids one age 4 and one age 2 and i use my jogger everyday. It has a front wheel that pivits and it is by far the best jogger ever made. I really should be a sales rep for there company! You can buy them at REI or specialty stores. I recomend going online to Bobgear.com and checking them out...you can also find store locations that way. Good luck! Love A.

I think the BOB's are the best on the market.. I like mine soo much that I use it for everyday use!! Easy on the street, trails, terrain ect ect.. The newest versions are a little slimmer and easier to maneuver than the older one's.. the only draw back is that they are pricey but you get what you pay for!

Hey J., ONE big tip I wish I got before buying my jogger stroller, make sure the front tire isn't fixed in one position. You don't realize until you actually get to running that most of them have a fixed front wheel that you have to lift to turn, tilt back to turn. A swivel front wheel would be ideal. Otherwise your stuck running with a stroller that feels like it needs an alignment and fixed in one direction. My inlaws wasted $300 on a reebok with all the bells and whistles. They lost the receipt and I'm stuck with it. Good Luck!

Hi J.!

I LOVE my BOB Revolution, it is a bit expensive but well worth it. It is so smooth and turns on a dime. The front wheel can be set to swivel while walking or hiking but can lock for jogging (very important for safety!). If you don't want to buy one new, I feel like I see them on craigslist often enough.

Good luck in your search!

We bought the Chariot from REI. My husband used it for my race in San Francisco and it work great for my son Brendon. It was such a smooth ride that he slept on most of the ride. My son never sleeps in a stroller. He was 7 months at the time. We still use it but now I have two boys and we may be looking into getting another one or a double. I would say look them up and use your best judgement, get advice (like us), look on websites for good deals on what you would like. We got ours on REI - Outlet for half the reg price. Good Luck!

Jeep. Totally! I have a Jeep jogger and I love it. I also suggest buying it at Toys R Us during their stroller days. I got mine for $65 which was 50% off. I've had it for a year and a half no problems and still love it. I also suggest making sure the front wheel swivels. My friend has the one that doesn't swivel and it makes turning difficult.

I love my Baby Trend Expedition jogger! It is smooth, has big wheels that are great for going off road. However, the front wheel is fixed, so making turns is a bit hard. But once I got used to tilting the stroller a bit when turning it become second nature and no problem at all! Also, there is a hand brake which is extra nice! My daughter loved riding in ours, the seat is also more cushioned that others I have seen.
In addition, there is a good sized parent tray, for two drinks and keys etc., and a decent size storage area underneath. I almost forgot my most favorite perk, the camopy is adjustable! You can move it to keep the sun out of your childs eyes! A huge plus:) You can find at Babies R Us and Target.
I just read Stacy's response, yes, if you plan on having anothr child, go for the Phil and Ted's Sport! That is what I got after my second. It can be used as a single, and later if needed you add a second seat. This is by far the neatest stroller I found!

You go!! Awesome for you!!

My first piece of advice would be to buy it at REI. The reason is that they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I bought a very expensive double jogging stroller (Bobby) because my first double stroller (McClaren, not jogging)started just falling apart. They want you to send it to their factory for repairs. I couldn't get by a day without it with two boys 14 months apart so sending it in was not an option for me. Anyway, after my Bobby stroller had a minor problem REI just replaced the whole thing.

And I do highly recommend Bobby strollers. They are just very expensive and I'd bet there are other good ones out there. My main thing would be to buy at REI. Good luck!
