I came all the way to Arizona from Ohio. My van broke down in New Mexico. The main seal to the transmition broke, causing a small fire under the van (freaked out the kids). I need help getting this fixed and/or possibly getting some sore of cheep car that I can get to from the store with. My husband is attending MMI college down here and he can ride a bike or something, but I need to be able to get food for the house and get the children to the doctors and things like that. Tuesday I have to walk like 6 miles to the Wic office to get help from them and I do not think that the 1 year old is going to take well to the heat and stuff like that. Besides I will have to carry him cause I don't even have a stroller.. I wish (hope) that some one can help or possibly knows places that can help!!! Well I have yet to find out how to get my van fixed, but I have found lots of people that are will ing to help me and the kids get to and from places! Thank you to all of you great people. Well this may be of no help to you but you can call AAMCO Transmission ###-###-####. They are located @ 6033 West Bell Road, Glendale, AZ 85308. I know some places offer a free tow if you get the work done there but I am not sure if this place does. The people there are really friendly and knwo there stuff though. Call Carl's Car Care on Bell Rd. and 60th Ave. ###-###-####. I've been going to him for years. We call him honest Carl. He is so honest, that I took my car in for a brake job because I heard squeaking, and he told me they were fine. I did this about 3 times over the past 9 months because I kept hearing sqeaking and everytime he said they were fine!Just recently I went in again for sqeaking and they actually did need to be done, but only the back brakes. I know if I would have taken my car to anyone else saying I need a brake job, they would have just done a brake job and I would be out money. He's great. Hope you enjoy working with his team.

Please do not allow your children to be out in the heat. Heatstroke, sunburn, etc are very dangerous to kids, especially your younger ones. That 6 mile walk with you holding the baby could be life threatening to your child. Take the advice given about the bus, at the very least. Now that you're in AZ, you will hear news stories about how dangerous the heat is, even deadly, that you probably didn't hear in OH. They can answer almost any question you may have on how or where to get your needs met. Tell them what it is you are looking for and they will direct you on where to look. It's a wonderfully helpful agency. As a nurse, I've used it many times to help others.
