I have a 12 week old yellow lab. We would love to eventually have her be a Therapy Dog but need to get into some good obedience training right now as a puppy. I am looking for recommendations on centers or trainers. Thanks.
Thanks for all the great referrals. We moved pretty slowly on this but have finally chosen the Humane Society's classes in Woodbury. They offer a two or four month pass to attend classes each week. You can go when it fits your schedule and progress at your own rate. I was finding it too hard to get a class at a time that would fit in with every the kids are doing. As we get further in the process of the therapy dog training, we are considering Total Recall in Hugo. A hike for us but told it is worth it.
My recommendation is Nancy Piotrowski with Top Tails Dog Training. She is a mom-owned business, with many years of experience and I believe she comes to you! Her website is www.toptailsdogtraining.com. She is a very wonderful woman and would do very well with your dog.

PetSmart had a great program we used woth our puppy and it was cheap!
When we were looking for a dog training, a few years ago, I called every one of the places that are mentioned below and then some. The cheapest I found was PetSmart and Petco, and they were both good, I can't remember which one we went with cuz I always get those two mixed up.

Congratulations on your new "baby" ! We have a lab also and finished our first training class this spring at the Animal Inn just outside of Lake Elmo. Our trainer's name was Chuck and he is outstanding!! Of course, like anywhere else you go, your success will depend on how much you practice outside of the class, but we were very happy with it! Good luck!!
Have you checked out Katie K9? I think her website is KTK9.com and she is in Hugo. Well worth the trip - she is great at dog training (and training owners:>) and knows all things dogs. She practically worked miracles for our two dogs. Good luck!
