I recently saw a musician named "Kid Rock" at a first birthday party in NYC and thought that he was excellent. I don't have his contact information, but you may be able to "Google" it. Good luck!
Hi! My daughter will be turning one this summer and we'd like to have an outdoor party for her. We are planning to have one adult/kid party - instead of two separate parties. We've reserved some outdoor space with a playground for older kids and basketball courts, but we'd like something for the toddlers and adults. A magician? Music teacher? Any thoughts or referrals are appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Wow! Thanks to all for your responses. I haven't decided which way to go but, I am so grateful for all the options offered. Thanks again!

Hi D.,
i have recently been to a first birthday party of my friends little boy, they, like you, had a party for the adults and kids. For the young children they had a clown who went on a platform before the little kids (who were sitting on the floor) and made a balloon show, he made shapes out of the balloons and gave them to the little kids, that kept them occupied for quite a while, they also had a woman who did the kids' face paint!
Have fun at your daughters party!

Hi D.,
My son is turning 1 in June God Willing. I am also having an out event in my yard. I decided on a clown, but lisen they do not paint there faces they have been in business for over 25 years and have learned that the paint is what scares the kids she would only have gilter. The company is Beauty and The Beast. I love this idea only because I do not have the stress of bad weather if my outdoor plans fail I have a back up in the house. For at least 1hr 1/2. and I could fill in about two hrs. I have activities planned. Hope it goes well with you. :) Happy 1st. Birthday to the little one. :)
Hey D.,
I am a fellow mom in the nyc area. I also do birthday parties. I have taught children for many years and love doing first birthday parties. I do a lot of singing, dancing, bubbles, and parachute- perfect for a first birthday party in the park. I have done parties central park and many other area playgrounds. I did my son's first birthday in an outdoor playspace last summer. If you are interested, email me at ____@____.com can also check out my website at www.megsactivities.com.Good luck!
Hi, D.,
Check out http://www.twistedballoon.com/ -- Todd Neufeld does children's parties, corporate and adult parties, festivals, etc. He's been all over the world doing this stuff and has won awards, too. I think he's supposed to be on Letterman tomorrow (Friday) night if you want to see him in person. Good luck!
I highly recommend Nita Moore from Music Together. She's a 1 woman musician who brings her own toys, rattles, instruments, etc. and is very engaging with the kids. We took a class with her and loved her! Her #: ###-###-####. Email: ____@____.com.
I don't know her price but she's great.
For my daughter's first we had a caricaturist (not sure if spelled correctly).
I used a magician for my son's 1st party and everyone was very entertained. He's show incorporated this for adults and children. My son is 26 months and people are still talking about it.

Not sure if you're interested in hiring a DJ that is good with kids. Good entertainment for both adults and kids. They have dancers, MCS, props, toys/toy chest, prizes. They are really good and I would highly recommend them. They take care of entertaining the kids for u. StepLively Productions 888-783-7357
I know a wonderful face painter who is just great with children. She's funny, entertaining and intuned with children. Let me know if you need her info.
I was recently at a party for a 1 year old where they hired a DJ who was able to entertain kids ranging from 1 up to 12. Not sure if this is feasible in an outdoor setting. But this was the best 1 year old party I've ever been to and the kids all loved it. The activities were able to suit all the kids, and sometimes the older kids helped the younger ones along.
Hi D., I just responded to another mom about an outdoor party. For the younger children, they all love bubbles. There are colorful parachutes you can get through Oriental trading and there are books and magazines with lots of ideas. A clown or magician cost money but if you have it, do it! Also music is great. There are tapes and CD's with games on them if you can bring a battery operated radio. Also you can check out www.partywithmarty.net(my sons 2nd grade teacher and her husband, they are good)Pray for good weather and have a great time! Grandma Mary
