I too sprinkle ground flaxseed on oatmeal, cereal, applesauce, yogurt, smoothies for my family. 2 Tbl/day for an adult - I try to aim for 1Tbl/day for the kids.
My now 6 yr old suffered from eczema too. My chiropractor/nutritionist recommened probiotics. We use a powder, FloraBoost by OrthoMolecular Products. When she first had an issue around the age of 2 with a flare up from head to toe, we added a serving of probiotics daily to her diet. It took about 2 months to completely clear up and ever since I give her a serving 2-3 times per week. She has only had mild spots no larger than a quarter since that large flare up. When she gets a spot (usually on her legs) then she gets the probiotic daily for a few days...then back to 2-3 times/wk.
From my understanding, boosting the immune system is what helps clear the eczema. Also know that it can, not always, be associated with food allergies. My daughter is allergic to peanuts.
