Foosies in Des Plaines - foosies.com too - they have the shoes kids are supposed to wear at this age - flat, super flexible, wider etc. Good info on their site too
I live on NW side and need a place that can really measure and suggest the right shoes for my kids. The 4 year old seems to have a narrow foot and the 2 year old still has those wide baby feet. I do not want to spend over $50 for sneakers.

I would recommend Stride Rite too. They will measure their feet and show you the right type of shoe that matches the stage they are at.

Hi J.,
My husband and I own Sole Babies, Children's Shoe & Accessories Boutique located at 2033 W. Division St., just south of Wicker Park. We have a great selection of quality shoes and will find the perfect fitting pair for your children. Check our website for more info at www.solebabiesboutique.com. If you sign up for our mailing list we will let you know about any sales we have going on.
I understand that you don't want ot spend a lot of money on shoes, but after a long time thinking at researching, Stride Rite is really the best answer for a child, especially if they are walking. If you decide that you don't want to do Stride Rite,a tleast go there to get measured so you know the correct size, and then take that information else where. I really think Stride Rite is the way to go, their shoes are so durable, and they send you reminder cards for when it is time to check your child's foot measurements again.
Good luck.
Morning,
I agree, Stride Rite is the best place for getting shoes for little ones. All three of my girls Now (16, 18, 23) years of age started out in Sride Rite shoes.
Great company.
Nordstrom is awesome! They keep a record of your child's shoe size and take the time to really find a pair of shoes that all are happy with. They do carry stride rite.
Try Alamo shoe store on N. Clark St in Andersonville. Sorry I don't have the exact address but it is between Foster and Bryn Mawr.

You can get your childrens' feet measured at Stride Rite, but you don't have to buy anything there. I've gotten Stride Rite and New Balance Kids shoes at Nordstrom Rack and Marshalls for $7-$24, much cheaper than at a regular store. My son has wide feet so I'm limited to what brands of shoes he can wear. If your kids' feet are narrow and wide, you'll probably find the same limitations. I've been told by many experienced moms that you really can't scrimp on kids' footwear. The good news is that as your kids get older, their feet will grow more slowly. Happy shoe shopping!
Check out Sole Babies on Division Street. I recently met the owner and he is really knowledgable on shoes for kids and really nice! You can email him at ____@____.com name is Raki!
Try Wagners I believe they are in Elmwood Park/River Grove area on North Avenue.
