How about some adorable hair stuff. They have so many cute things at the mall stores. My daughter loves that no matter what age she gets! Also I think its never too late to start to color and draw it creates such great school habits!
Hi,
This is a request for my sister-in-law. She has 2 little girls, ages 9 months and the other one will be 3 in a few weeks. She is looking for gift ideas for the youngest, for her 1st birthday. Since she already has an older little girl, there isn't much she really needs toy wise, so she is looking for some ideas that other mom's couldn't live without and didn't mind purchasing for the second child. I know she wants stuff for the little one to actually open on her birthday. Any ideas you wonderful mother's out there have would be greatly appreciated.

I would highly recommend these tiny board books from Sesame Street. It has become a go-to 1 year old gift in our house. They are a hit with all of them!

What about something personalized since most of her toys were her sister's? The disney website lets you insert the child's name into a book, or a puzzle with her name.
The crayola tadoodles beginner collection is awesome!
Bubbles are always a hit!
Try doing a search on Mamasource in the old requests. I posted a question about 1-year-old presents in December and got some great responses.
I received bath crayons and bath color tablets by crayola for my 1 year old and he loved them. Of course it took a couple of months for him to get the concept of the crayons, but it was a gift he could grow into. =)
You already have the book idea...if your 3 year old is like my girls, her toddler books are kind of rough by now, so new ones would not come amiss. Also, My girls LOVE the bubble machine. Both of your girls could play with that together in the back yard through the summer as your little one crawls and starts to toddle. As far as toys, you may already have these, but we had a rocker/walker (which always stayed a rocker) that had a control panel in front that counted, sang simple songs, etc. The other can't do without toy was the Leap Frog activity table. She can't really pull herself up on it, but can use it to balance while she plays...it also can be put on the floor for her to sit in front of until she is ready for it as a table. And wood Puzzles, Puzzles, and more Puzzles.
Have fun for the birthday...

I love books for little guys..its something that can be theirs and can grow a special bond between the parent and that child. I usually try to also buy a book for the older child and explain that they are growing bigger so they will enjoy different things. This is of course so surprise since I sell books for a living!
My two are 21 months apart and the older is a boy and younger a girl, so when it came to 2nd child gifts we could go girly. She got a doll house, dolls...
Good luck, If you want book ideas check out my Blog barefootjj.blogspot.com.
I don't know how much you would want to spend, but Shutterfly has a bunch of adroable books that you can actually insert the kids picture in and some information about the child too. i ordered one for my friend's 1 year old and it turned out sooo cute and was a nice keepsake. The website is www.shutterfly.com. Hope it helps.
