Does anyone have the name of a really good nutritionist in Northwest Chicago. I am premenopausal and am having GREAT difficulty loosing weight. I am not gaining or loosing, just staying neutral. Believe me I am an avid exerciser and know what foods are good and bad. I am thinking that I need to balance my proteins, fats, etc. better and need help!

Dear M.:
I understand that Swedish Covenant Hospital has an exercise and nutrition program at their fitness facility which is located on Foster near California. Perhaps by calling the hospital, you can be connected to the program. My male partner was supposed to get involved with it for weight management but didn't follow through. Good luck.

Hi M.:

I suggest seeking the help of a registered dietitian. You may search for RDs in your area via the American Dietetic Association website: www.eatright.org. You will notice a blue box to the right of the screen - the last option will be "Find a Nutrition Professional."

Good luck!

Hi M.,

I am not a nutritionist but have been a coach to many people on Shaklee's Cinch Inch Loss Plan. It's a program that is easy to follow and balances fats, carbs and proteins. It's a plan that has also shown health benefits including lowering blood sugar, cholesterol, trigylcerides and high blood pressure. You can learn about the program including the results of clinical testing by contacting me or visiting www.cinchplan.com/judytorres.

http://www.digestique.com is located near Northwestern Hospital, but a very well rounded group of individuals that will take your blood work and test you for food allergies, food intolerances, and take into consideration the stage of life you are currently in. While it talks about digestive diseases, there may be some underlying issues that we cannot see that may be inhibiting weight loss. It specializes in women's health only. Good luck!

I've used Bonnie Minsky at Nutritional Concepts in Northbrook. I know it's a little far but worth the drive to me

http://www.nutritionalconcepts.com/

I saw her for a food intolerance issue, not weight management, but her advice and expertise really helped me. She is excellent at looking at your bloodwork, lifestyle, eating patterns and identifying what you need to change. However, she is not a follow you through kind of gal. She'll prescribe a change and then it's up to you to do it and follow up if you'd like. Her daughter puts together food plans but they don't hand hold. If you're looking for someone to pinpoint what's wrong and then you do the rest then I recommend them. But if you feel you need more extended follow-up someone else might be better.

Good luck!
