Hi,
I'm looking for a good Kaiser Permanente OB/GYN. Also seeking a great Doula. Any thoughts?

So What Happened?

Thank you for your helpful responses. It is such a blessing to have a sense of community in our big beautiful city. I am scheduled for my prenatal next week (unfortunately, I can't meet with OB/GYN of my choice, yet...)
Cheers,
E.

I've had 2 babies at Kaiser in the last 2 years. If your pregnancy is uncomplicated, you will likely see a midwife and I loved Robin Brennan. Patricia Achilly is also highly recommended. Avoid all the Nurse practitioners. If you need to see an MD (which I did with the second), Dr. Manes was wonderful and I also liked Dr. Pattengil and Dr. Bennett. All are female, friendly, competent (I am a doctor so feel comfortable saying this). Yes, I am an MD and preferred a midwife initially. They have more time to spend with you and you will have a midwife deliver your baby unless there is some complication. Good luck and call for all appointments early - they fill up fast! Reply directly if you have any other Kaiser questions. All of these practitioners are at Vandeveer by the way.

Hi,
I saw Kim Wolf who is a massage therapist, doula, and mommy. My husband and I decided not to have a doula we wanted it to be just us, but she was so great for me to talk to when I would go for a massage. Here's her info: http://salon2141.com/prenatal.html.
Congratulations and good luck.

Colleen McNally is an awesome OB/GYN...gentle, yet very firm at the same time. She is awesome.

Also, I have a good friend Melissa Drollman who is a Doula...here is her e-mail address - ____@____.com

She is awesome!

Good luck!

I live in PB too! Congrats on your first pregnancy; it's a different world with children that I just love.

I'm in my 39th week at Kaiser with my third child (all through Kaiser) and I cannot more highly recommend Dr. Cantu. I see her at Vandever, but I think she's located elsewhere too. She's one of these people who is professional, thorough, supportive, intelligent, encouraging...I could go on and on. Love her!
I've had nothing but the best to say about Kaiser and their ob/gyn department, but Dr. Cantu is just the creme de la creme. She's in high-demand, but totally worth it.
Although I haven't had as much experience with her, I felt very good about Dr. Musoke.

Concerning doulas, I can't help. I've been fortunate to have two brothers massage me, time my contractions, put counter-pressure on my back (during labor), take pictures, film, etc. as well as my husband, sister, mother, and mother-in-law with me for all other support during the births. I don't think their services are available to others, haha.

Good luck
