So What Happened?

I decided to take my son to the vision center in Meijer (Oswego). It was simple, convenient, cheap ($45), Dr. Lapp was great, and it fulfilled the requirement

The Wheaton Eye Clinic has been great for us. I have 9 month old twins who have both needed to go there. The doctor I recommend is Dr. Carolyn Oesterle. We see here at the wheaton clinic but I think they have several locations. One is in Naperville i think. Good luck

There is a program for a free eye exam for all babies up to 12 months old. When I found out about it, I took my twins when they were 9 months old last year. Everything is fine, but I felt good having them checked out. We went to Dr. Stephen Steinmetz, 1000 E. Ogden Ave., Naperville, IL 60563 / ###-###-####. (www.infantsee.org) I thought he was really great with such little kids.

My son has been seeing Dr. Oesterle since he was 4 mos. old due to eye development problems he was born with. She did surgery on him when he was 6 mos. old and we go now every year to see her for check-ups. We see her @ the Glen Ellyn clinic, part of Dupage Medical Group. (Something goofy with my insurance). But she's only there on Monday afternoons in Glen Ellyn. Her main office is @ the Wheaton Eye Clinic on Main St. in Wheaton. Her nurse, June is really great, too. You can find locations & Dr.'s on the website: www.wheatoneye.com.

Good Luck!

Patty Davis is a pediatric ophthalmologist in Naperville on Ogden. She is a wonderful lady and doctor. You may not need an ophthalmologist (MD) most likely just an optometrist (OD). But if you want or prefer an MD, Dr Davis is great. I'm in sales in the eye field so I know all the MD's but only a hand full of OD's.

There is a program called InfantSee that may help you. It's a national program where certain OD's will treat any infant ages 6 months - 2 years at no charge. It is such a wonderful program. The doctors truly participate in InfantSee because they care about children's eye health they don't get paid a thing. I would think a doctor that participates in such a program would be a good start to take your son to. They obviously like kids if they are welcoming in infants at no charge. The InfantSee website is: www.infantsee.org From that site you can do a search for participating doctors. Hope that helps.

Do not go to Dr Lise Anne Guay Bhatia under any circumstance .She is the worst ped ophtalmo in the area. She overprescribed glasses because she is careless and greedy. I took my child to her nine years ago for a routine exam. She told us our child was nearsighted when she could see 20/20 and to come back every year . We had good insurance and could pay $200 for the consultation. The doctor ended up prescribing the first pair of unnecessary glasses when my child was only 8 yo.She has just passed a vision screening test at school without problem and did not complain or squint. It started her into myopia. We came back every year and each year this doctor prescribed stronger and stronger glasses. Her exam lasted about one minute each time and she never checked if the glasses made a difference in how the child could see.Until we decided to try contact lenses and were referred to another doctor who told us that our child has been overprescribed all these years. Our child went from 0 myopia to -6D in less than 4 years in the hand of this doctor! I sent her chart to a professor of Ped Ophtalmology at Wimer Institute at John Hopkins who confirmed the misdiagnosis. So stay away from this uncrupulous and greedy doctor!

Hi K.! My husband and I are both eye doctors and we have our own private practice in Joliet. I realize that this is not the exact location that you have inquired about, but we would do our best to make it worth your drive. We have seen many pediatric patients and even offer vision therapy if your child would need help aligning his eyes. We would be more than happy to take care of your entire family if you would like. You can check us out at www.jolieteyecare.com or give us a call at ###-###-####. I hope we hear from you :)

Hello,
My son's eye doctor is great. His contact ifo. is below. He came highly recommended to me from several people. My son has been seeing him since he was 13 months old ( he is now almost 2.) The dr. has his own children and he is very patient and understanding when my son does not cooperate with him. He works really well with him. He seems thorough and takes his time to answer any questions that I have. I would suggest to make an early morning appt. It seems he gets backed up during the day and there is quite a waiting time if you have an afternoon appt.

His name is Dr. Michael Kipp. The Wheaton Eye Clinic is on Ogden and Raymond, but they also have offices in Wheaton and Hinsdale. The phone # is ###-###-####.

I hope this helps!

Hi, We LOVE Dr. Gail May at Insight Optical 1239 E. Ogden Ste.115 Naperville 60563 ###-###-####. She (and the office folks) are wonderful. She discovered my son's colorblindness when he 'passed' the school's test. She has been caring for all our family's vision needs for around 8 years and we would never think of switching!

My son saw Patricia Davis for 5 years, now we have a rough patch and for a few months he has the "ALL KIDS INSURANCE" and she does not work with them. I offered to pay up front and let her a message. She never called. I expected to be able to pay up front being her patient for so many years and being only a temporary insurance thing. I was disappointed. She can be a good doctor but like most of the doctors she is in for the money; she is not caring about kids. My pediatrician told me that when you pay up front the sum is smaller compared with the sum they charge the insurance, so there is the answer. Now I am looking for a good doctor that works with this insurance and I am gonna keep him/her even after I will get a good health insurance.
