My dughter is also very short and little. We never used a self standing potty. She wanted to be like mommy so she sat on the big potty. We just bought the seats that go on the big potty. We have the dora and seasame street ones. She never goes to the bathroom herself so I just put her on it when she needs to go. We do have a stool also but that seemed alittle diffucult for her.
Then when we are out and about. We have a foldable one that goes on public bathrooms. She has done great and never looked back.

IKEA, IKEA, IKEA. They have a very simple, very short training potty that is super cheap. I bought a Baby Bjorn potty at BabiesRUs when my elder son was training that I think cost $20. I recently got another at IKEA for the first floor of our house that was I think three dollars. Well worth it.

Bjorn (Regal-Lager) makes a one-piece small potty that sits low to the ground that should do the trick.

Baby Bjorn-love it. First potty we started with. It sits directly on the floor so his legs should reach fine. It is one solid molded piece so there is no dumping cup. The carry them at BRU, target and online (I found a clear one online, great for training since I could tell when mine had gone). Good luck!

It's called the baby bjorn potty chair. Good for you that he's showing interest so early! My 28 month old is working on it now, but has a lot of accidents! He'll get the hang of it though. This is a fun time ofr us both!

Baby Bjorn has excellent, simple potties. We use the Little Potty for my 6 month old, but my almost 3 year old likes it too and we can bring it with us everywhere. The Splash Proof is a little taller, (I don't believe has a dumping cup but this one is harder to find), and is great because it has wings on the floor that they step on to keep the potty from falling over when they get up.There is also one with a cup that looks great too. They are all very affordable and can be found on Amazon (except the splash proof but still, those are around)They should all fit your child since Baby Bjorn makes potties supporting infant potty training.

I just potty trained my 20 month old this past week and we just used the seat that goes on the regular potty. I bought a stool to help her get on and off and of course i still assist since she is so young and small to wipe. I like the seats better because they get used to flushing and wiping and we don't have to mess with the dumping and cleaning it.It is an easier transition I think, my older daughter use it at 22 motnhs and by the time she was 2 1/2 I had taken it away and she was fine to use the regular potty. Good luck and have patients.

I like the potty training seats that sit on top of a regular toilet. They make the toilet the perfect size for a toddler, are padded so they feel comfortable, and best of all- no mess to clean up like a regular dumping cup. My kids are short too so I have a very sturdy stool they can use to get on and off the potty and another one in front of the sink for hand washing.

Hi N.!
For my daughter I bought the "once apon a potty" potty. It came with the book & a poster. Very simple in design, & very inexpensive. It did not work for my daughter because she is so tall (she's 3 yrs old & 3 1/2 ft tall). But it is a great little potty :)

I am curious about this myself. My daughter is also very short and we had to struggle with how tall the potties were, but she did fine after a few months, and is now 3 1/2 years old and completly potty trained. She stopped using the little potty before she turned 3 and now uses a regular toilet just fine. My son is 17 mos, and I am about to buy him a potty, just to get used to it. I think I am going to try and potty train him standing up(with help from the hubby) but I don't know the first thing about potty training boys. If you are looking for different kind of potties. try onestepahead.com they have a lot of neat stuff.

Hi! yes I can say w/ confidance that there is a baby bjiourn(sp?) potty that sounds like just what you are looking for. It is small and looks like a modified "bumbo" seat w/ a large hole for the pee/poo...and no dumping cup. It is made by the same people that make the baby Bjiourn carrier and I have seen them on-line for $10-12, there is an array of colors and a little outlined teddy bear on the front. This was my girls first potty and I now keep it in the car for emergency potty use(i.e. if we can not find a clean public bathroom) hope this helps, good luck!
