Hello all. I am sending this out to see if anyone out there knows of any organizations or social service agencies were I can get some assistance. I need assistance with paying my rent and utilities. I am scared that I am about to loose everything my home, car, and have nowhere for my children, grandchildren, or myself to go. I was recently laid off and the little amount I get in unemployment does not even pay for my lights, gas, water, car note, car insurance, and most of all RENT. I can't even provide Christmas for my younger children and my grandchildren. I really am at a lost. I have been applying for jobs left and right with nothing coming my way. I have over 14 years experience in the health insurance field. I am not even getting call backs. I have tried the Tarrant County Human Services and I was informed that because I do get unemployment benefits and it is not enough to pay my bills that they will not help me. I have applied for food stamps and as of today I have not even gotten an appointment. Please if anyone knows of where I can can some assistance I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

If you go in first thing in the morning you can sign up for emergency food stamps. You will likely be there the whole day, but you have to be there by a certain time in order for them to even see you.

good Luck!

Contact your utility companies. The electric companies have assistance programs set up. I would think the water companies would too. Call or visit local charity organizations and food banks. The other suggestion I would have would be if you are involved/attending a church, they are usually willing to offer assistance to those attending. Many have outreach assistance for others as well. Good luck!

I am sorry to hear that you are having some very rough times right now. You may want to look into the Catholic Charities, they assist in paying bills. Ask other churches as well or the House of Hope in Crowley, Tx. Good luck and God Bless.

L.,

Hello! I am so sorry to hear about your struggles. Please know you are in mine and my families prayers. My family and I have struggled this year too because of overwhelming medical bills. My husband, who has been the picture of health and is only 45 years old, suffered two major heart attacks this year. Thank God he is with us today and improving everyday.

There is a wonderful nonprofit in our area called 6 Stones Mission Network. It has helped thousands of people and is run by the most amazing folks. www.6stones.org

Try Catholic Charities. I used them before. Also, on the back of your electric bill, there are #'s to call for assistance. I used them a few years ago also. Also, some churches like SW Aid Alliance provide assistance with food and bills. There are programs through the city of Fort Worth that help with getting jobs. We are doing training through the city/Tip Top/ ARRA and provide interviews for possible employment at the end of training. Graduated 11 yesterday and 13 next Tues. Ask about their benefits through the city of FW. We have new classes starting next week. Find Daphne Brookins with City of FW. Sorry, but don't have the number. Or call Kay Lee with TCC ###-###-####.

First - call First Call for Help in Tarrant county.
Then, if that doesn't help, call Catholic Charities.
Call local churches and ask for help.
Call Mission Arlington
If none of these people help - ask them where you can go.
Call your utility people and ask them for delays in payment or for actual help - they have funds for this sometimes.
Everyone KNOWS that there are people - good, honest, hard-working people out there that need help.
Arlington Charities also has help available.
Sorry, don't have their numbers handy at that moment but they are all published on-line.
May God bless you and your family!

If you are in Mansfiled - call the Wesley Mission Center. It's a charity of 1st United Methodist Church. If they can't help, they might be able to direct you somewhere. They might also have some ideas for Christmas for the younger kids.

I don't know the local resources in FW, but you might call 2-1-1 and see what resources are available. In Arlington, Mission Arlington helps people with utility payments and food requests. Catholic Charities may provide these services in FW, but there might be others. If you processed health insurance claims, why not see if you qualify to file health insurance claims...maybe for a hospital or a large clinic??? good luck and keep trying. Have a positive attitude and this will all come together for you. If you listen to or call Dave Ramsey on the radio or his website (daveramsey.com) he will tell you what to pay in what order and maybe have other suggestions for employment.
