(I am not a doctor) My understanding of lymph nodes is that they swell up usually in response to some kind of infection. They are like the body's detergent, keeping things clean. They are also somewhat localized, like the bathroom crew does not do the kitchen, unless things are really messed up.
Could be a response to bad teeth, to inflamed tonsils (does he have a sore throat?) ear infection (smelly ears?) or he could have developed ALLERGIES.
yOU HAVE A DOG, A CAT, AND A SNAKE? There are 3 possible culprits right there.
I suggest you think back what changed 5 months ago...?
Something could have precipitated the situation.
Did you move? Did he change schools, did you get a new pet? Did you change detergents/soaps? Did you buy a new set of pots or dishes?
Although I was very lucky with holistic doctors in COlorado and Oregon, I gave them up after consulting with a few in Florida. I all fairness, I have to say there is an interesting clinic in Clearwater that was helpful with my allergies a while back.
It is called The Wellness Center - Dr. Paul Maas, DO is their current director, 301 Turner St - Clearwater, FL ###-###-####.
Holistic treatments can be expensive, too.
There are some other serious illnesses with glands.
My suggestion: CONSULT WITH A PEDIATRIC ENDOCRINOLOGIST.
