So What Happened?

I want to thank everybody for the great advice they offered me.I tried the Fenugreek and it seems to be working well.I am also trying oatmilk and hope that works also.Al this combined and things are good.My daughter is getting over a cold and refuses her cereal now so she is also helping in brining in more milk.Thank you all once again. It has been a lifesaver for me and helped me to not get depressed over the matter of almost losing my milk.Good to have people to rely on on and hopefully one day i can return the favor.

A., I would meet with a lactation consultant if I were you. There is a woman by the name of Maryanne with the lactation clinic at Rose hospital, it's free to meet with her (I think) and she is the best in town, really anyone in that office is wonderful. I am a doula and I recommend all of my clients (and myself) to see her if they have any questions or concerns. I have seen her work miracles! Good luck. :)

Hi! The best advice I can give you is to contact the LaLeche League. And don't give up! I was given some bad advice from my ob-gyn when I was nursing my first child and by the second had figured it out. Nursing was absolutely one of the best experiences of my life... and relax... you probably have more milk than you realize.

Good luck.

I used an herb called fenugreek, it worked so well and you can pick it up at vitamin cottage or similar store. It is a pill that you take a few times a day. I ended up using it once a day and usually could tell when it started working. It is the greatest to increase milk!!
Although it makes your skin smell like licorice!
Best of luck

I just fed on demand so when my kids started on cereal, other than pumping, I just let things run their course. During that time my kids were happy and not asking for more and they were showing voluntary signs of weaning at ~10 months of age. Are they becoming to satiated with the amount of cereal you are feeding? Pumping should help you keep up but I always felt that my kids were more efficient at draining me out than my pump.

Best wishes.

I'm sure the tea is better, but when my husband was a baby (31 years ago) my mother-in-law was told by her doctor to drink a beer. Something about the yeast in it makes you produce more. I haven't tried it, no prodcution problems here thank goodness. I hope you find something that works!

You didn't mention how old your baby is...I suspect about 6 months. Be sure you aren't replacing a feeding with the cereal at this point. The first few weeks/months or solid food are more for learning new textures & tastes than volume of food. Feed the solids after you have nursed. And check out:

Sorry for the long address, but it will take you directly to a checklist for increasing milk supply.

Hi there, what you will hear the most is to increase your fluids. I drink Mother's Milk tea and that helps increase my fluids and milk supply. You can purchase it @ Vit Cottage, GNC, and now King Soopers. It's by Traditional Medicines. I make it with 2 cups of water in a travel mug and sip it throughout the morning.. Hope this helps you!!

I use Fenugreek to increase my milk supply. You can find it at Wild Oats, Whole Foods, Vitamin Cottage, etc. You do have to take a lot though (more than it says on the bottle), 3 pills 3 times a day. It works great!
