Seeking Location to Buy Beef

I have 2 boys and a husband who eat a lot of meet. The constant wal-mart trips really wear me out with the boys and a 2 year old daughter. Does anyone know where I can buy a 1/2 a beef for a reasonable price. I priced one at Rick's processing but they told me a $1,000. I know you can get one for around $650 or so. I am really having trouble finding a meet processor who still does this though. Anyone out there buy their meet like this?

So What Happened?

The meat market is perfect. He told me if I bought a whole cow, I would be buying about a 100 lbs of fat. Therefore the best way is to buy it ready to go with what we need. Thanks so much!

I would try to talk to Perry's Meat Market on Lewis at 11th street! I hear they are the best priced meat in town and the meat isn't bloody eather so your paying for meat and not the "extra" weight. They may even sell a hlf side of beef if they know what you want! GOOD LUCK!! L.

Check with local schools Ag departments. Once the kids show their animals, a lot are ready for butchering. Good luck!
