Hola, mama! Mucho gusto! Try books by David Shannon. Those are the "David books" and there are several that are in Spanish & written for the todddler level: David se mete en lios" & "No David" are two of the books. You can find those and more at Amazon.com. I bought mine with the 4 books for the price of 3 promotion & free shipping. I, also, have read a series called "Eric & Julieta". They are bilingual books. One book is called "Done esta Eric", but there are three other books and all are on Amazon.com. Gladys Rosa-Mendoza has books that teach words like clothes, food, and other objects in Spanish and English... Also, found on Amazon.com. Those books are board books, so they are perfect for little hands. Also, in board books, and my daughters' favorite books are the Little Monkey books: "En un Árbol Están los Cinco Monitos" "Cinco Monitos Brincando en la Cama", and a few more in the series. You can find these on Amazon by searching through the author's name: Eileen Christelow
I could write forever with lists of books to read, but you get the idea. If you need any more book ideas or have questions, just let me know!

These are some of the books my daughter enjoyed when she was your son's age. They are all board books:

Besitos y Abrazos...por Roberta Grobel Intrater
¿Donde Está el Ombliguito?...por Karen Katz y Argentina Palacios Ziegler
Los Colores de Elmer por David McKee
Los Bebes... por Susan Canizares y Pamela Chanko
Los Bebes Van a Todas Partes...por Susan Canizares y Pamela Chanko
The last two (los bebes) may be difficult to find, but I still have our copies. If you want them and are near Arlington on weekends or Irving during the week, I can meet you and you can have them.

Barefoot Books also has a very good selection of books in Spanish. Here is their website... http://www.barefoot-books.com/us/site/pages/browseandbuy....
I have found several of their English-language books in the public library, but I've never looked for any of them in Spanish. Cerdota Grandota por Stella Blackstone es excelente -- a mi hija le gusta mucho.

Buena suerte en su busqueda!

Hi F.,
Scholastic has great spanish children books. Another place to check out children spanish books is with Barnes and Noble they have a large collection. If you have family in Argentina, maybe you can ask them to send you some from their.
Hope this helps.

My favorite is "Buenas Noches Gorila" by Peggy Rathmann since it is mostly a picture book (funny too!) you can really embellish the story with your own words and make it slightly different each time. We also like "Mi Abuela Es Estupenda" y "Mi Abuelo Es Estupendo" by Gaby Goldsack and Sara Walker. These two are in english and spanish.

Half-price Books on Northwest Highway and 75 has a big section of children's books in Spanish.

Use your local library. I don't speak much Spanish, but I do read it decently. They have lots of classic tales and stories in Spanish. They even have popular TV Characters in Spanish, too. That way you can try out a bunch and just buy the ones you and your son really like.

Ok, I was just in BsAs and Montevideo in December and I bought several "Federico" books by Graciela Montes. They are sooo cute! We like "Federico y el Mar." They are for a little older, maybe, 2-3 yr old, but my 1 year old likes them too. And what's nice, is that the illustrations are from Argentina, so at the Mar, they have the mate y todo. I found them on Amazon.com. Worth it! We also found some at Barnes and Noble in the spanish kids section. And there are usually a bunch at the public library. Buena suerte!

It's never too early to start flash cards. I purchased some Spanish flash cards from a teaching store and my students love them. They're great for the basics.
My father is Cuban, but he was the youngest child in a family of 5, so he never felt comfortable speaking in spanish. Therefore, he never taught my brother and I... and boy do I wish he had! Being bilingual is so important now-a-days. Good luck! : )

Hola, F.. I also recommend "Cinco Monitos Brincando en la Cama" by Eileen Christelow. Very funny and exciting. My daughter loves it. I bought it at Barnes & Noble in the kids' section. They have a decent number of bilingual books. Also, I second the suggestion that you check the library. Most of the branch libraries have plenty of children's books in Spanish, and the downtown library has a lot of children's books in other languages. I was blown away by the selection of Chinese, French, Spanish, German books when I was taking classes in all of those languages a few years ago. (I like to try to read children's books when I'm taking a language class--it builds up my confidence!)
