Hello! I am a 34 year old SAHM with a 22 month old son. I am looking for a local "mom" or "play" group for my son and I to join and cannot seem to find one in this area. Any suggestions? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hi Ladies! Thanks for the info. I knew about the meet up group in my area but I gave up on them. I had to meet the person in charge in a public place so that I would be able to get access to the calender and she never showed up!

Nic P., I have emailed momsclub of T.P. thanks for the info...

I belong to a playgroup at my church in Tinley (St. George), but we are on summer break for that one. I also belong to a meetup group in that area:

It is a great group of moms/kids, there are many scheduled events and you just RSVP for the ones you can/want to attend. They also schedule some "mom's night out" events which are also nice. It has an annual fee of $12 I think to cover the website and some of the bigger group events. The link should get you there to check out a little more info.
Hope you find something you like, it is always nice to get out with other moms and their kids.

There is one in Tinley Park. Go to www.meetup.com to find it.

I HIGHLY recommend MOMS Club (Int'l link is momsclub.org)... there is a Tinley Park chapter. If it's not listed with a website, just email momsclub.org (they do take a little bit to respond though). You could also try churchs MOPS groups. Also, I highly recommend Meetup.com to find some local mom's group in the area. :)

Hi V.

ETA: I read your follow up and I am sorry you never got the chance to meet an organizer. I don't know if it was me that you were supposed to meet or not. I would suggest that if you would like to be a part of meet up, you give the organizer your cell phone number. As an organizer I have been "stood up" many times by potential members and I have no way to reach them other than email. This doesn't work when they are not next to their computer. I sincerely hope you try again.

I founded a playgroup through the website Meetup.com last September, in Tinley Park. Our playgroup's name is Infant/Toddler Playgroup of Tinley/Orland Park.

The average age for the children in our group is about 2-3 years old but we do have children ranging from newborn to 5+ years old (the older are welcomed to activities when they are not in school). Most of our activities are focused on the toddler age. We currently have 22 moms in our group.

We welcome anyone from the SW suburbs to participate in our group (Nickname: ITTOP). But we keep our meeting and playdates in the Tinley and Orland areas most of the time.

Please go to the website Meetup.com to find our group. You can find it through the group name or possibly by looking up my name (L. W.).
We do have a few rules to follow as a member so make sure you agree with them (ex: post a picture of yourself, come to one meetup/playdate per month, pay a $12 fee/ year).

I hope to hear from you soon! (and anyone else from the SW suburbs that is reading this :)

L.
