I am a SAHM to a 3 month old little boy. While I love being able to stay home, I really miss the day to day adult contact that I had while I was working. I was a high school teacher and miss going to school everyday. I am looking for a new moms' group in my area to get me out and meet new people.

For A. and Melanie - I'm a member of the meetup.com group. We were closed to new members for a little while so that the current people could get to know each other better. However, I've since heard that we're open again, so I would suggest trying now. I'm referring to the NW Suburbs Moms of Babies and Toddlers group.

Also, my church (First United Methodist) has a support group for moms of small children. You don't have to be a member to join in. Let me know if you're interested and I can give you more details.

I would HIGHLY recommend Parents Who Care. parentswhocare.org

It's all moms of babies and preschoolers, and they have events, like weekly open gym. My daughter and I made many friends there. Their events are all in the northwest suburbs, and membership is $25 per year for your family.

Hi A.,

I'm in a neighborhood Moms' Group in Hoffman Estates (not too far from Palatine!), and we're always open to having new people join us. We all know how important community is, and that's one of the reasons we started this group. It's not an organized group, in that you have to pay dues or whatever. It's just a bunch of moms who get together once a week for the same reasons - getting out of the house, having our kids socialize, building friendships with other moms, having adult conversations, etc. If this is something that appeals to you, feel free to email me back and I can give you more information. We're meeting this Thursday, so we'd love to have you and your son join us!

All the best!
Yvonne

Have you thought about joining MOPS (Mother's of Preschoolers)? We meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday every month. It's an international organization. The group in Crystal Lake meets at Hope Covenant Church on the corner of Ackman and Randall. We just had our first meeting last week, but you're welcome to register! Many (if not all!) of the moms are in the same or similar situations...they want interaction with other moms and want to get out for a morning! There is even a children's program (MOPPETS) with loving, generous, trained staff. MOPS is an amazing group of really cool, down to earth moms. It's going to be an exciting new year with these women! Go to www.MOPS.org for more info if you're interested.

Hi A.

I have been looking for the same thing-I tried to get with the Palatine Moms meetup group and I was told there are too many members and they aren't accepting more! I am due with my first in December so I haven't been as determined to find 'the group' but I think I will need it like you do...

I am thinking of starting one-so why don't we keep in touch about it. I have a business that does websites so I can even put together a website to get others involved....my contact email is ____@____.com.

I was very disappointed when I was told they were 'full' in a few months-I think I might be needing some support and info-I am nervous!!

NW Suburb Moms Babies & Toddlers Meet Up Group: http://moms.meetup.com/2509/

They have lots of meetings on the calendar and great ideas for new activities! If you hit "join" then one of the organizers will contact you with the rules and process. The dues are $5 for the year.

My son is almost 6 months old, so we go to a lot of the meet ups at the parks where there's a walking path. It gives the moms a chance to chat while strolling.

I hope to see you at a meet up soon!
M.
