Seeking Moms Who Have Had Breast Implants

I am 48 years old and have always hated my breast size (about the size of a 10 year old). My children have almost all gone to college and decided I wanted to do something for myself I've always wanted to do. My husband loves me deeply and was perfectly fine with my size. But for years I've worn padded bras, pinned pads in place, embarrassed to wear swim suits, etc. It's been 3 days since my surgery and I'm very please with the size I chose (about a 34 C). Just wondering how long the severe soreness lasts and how did you "approach life" with your new additions! Lol

I got mine after having my child and breastfeeding taking pretty much anything that I had away it took about a week for the soreness to go away. I was not supposed to be, but six days after I was lifting my 9 month old. It was a personal decision for me and I have never regreted it and love them. I approached life the same as always just with more self esteem and confidence :-)

i had mine done 7 years ago...i was in the same situation...i was a 32A and now i am a 34D...i was in pain for about the first week after...some of which i brought upon myself( going shopping 2 days after surgery)...i just thought i could do it...boy was i wrong...i had vicodin for pain and phenergan for nausea...so don't do too much right out the gate...as for adjusting to the new additions...i just cleaned out the closet to make room for the new clothes...also don't get fitted for a new bra for a couple of weeks so they can settle...unless things have changed since i had mine done... i hope this helps and enjoy the new additions...i still love mine and they held up well through one baby and breastfeeding...they still don't sag...

I had mine done when I was 49. I had "over the muscle" implants because I had quite a bit of natural breast tissue, and I was sore for a few days, but that was it. I went shopping and out to eat the afternoon after the surgery and there was really very little pain. I did a lot of research and am very happy with the results, but they do have a down side (literally). Gravity works, even on implants. Clothes don't fit the same, you are going to have to find new styles that work for you. Jogging was out for me, I couldn't find a sports bra that was heavy duty enough for that. I use two sports bras and I switched to using an elliptical machine for work outs. But they look beautiful and very natural and I have scars that are nearly invisible and overall, I'm happy with them.

It hurt quite a bit for a week...Major charlie horse like pains in my breasts. Some times it felt like fire was coming out of my nipples for a month. i went from a Small B to a small C and the difference in weight on my breasts made them quite uncomfortable to not wear a bra.

So i purchased a no wire bra to sleep in which helped a lot.

BUT since I became preg with my daughter and my breasts grew a bit they feel quite better now.

It all depends on you and your body.

I know it is a pain to sleep sitting up right for the week. Your breast will change over the next few months when the swelling goes down completely about six months. For between the breasts I would use a small Carona beer bottle it fits perfectly!

As for life after the new additions I had them done in 2000 at the age of 25. I liked the way it proportioned my body my main reason for getting them. I dont wear tight or revealing clothes so most people dont realize I have large breasts unless I wear a tight shirt.

But they sure do look good in sexy clothing that is for sure!

Good for you!! I want to have this done badly, after four children things don't look as they once did and I want them back. If you don't mind sharing your physician if you are happy with them and did you do it asleep or awake?

Good luck!

Hi J. -
I had implants when I was 47! Congrats! I was sore for quite a while and had to be careful when lifting or pulling things (mine are under the muscle). I had to put off lifting weights for about 3 months. I feel so much better about myself knowing that I am now more proportionate. The only downside is trying to find tops that are big enough on top but small enough to fit my middle. I also lost about 30 lbs. before I had the surgery. I was a AA but now am a B. I never told anyone, not even my mom and she has never made a comment about my size. About "approaching life", if you feel good about yourself it will show in your attitude and outlook! I had to get used to getting more looks from others. I now wonder why I waited so long to get it done!! The soreness will pass and you will feel like you have always been that size. Good luck to you and your new additions!!!!

You have described me 10 years ago. I have never, ever regretted getting implants. They were tender until the swelling went down. Are you wearing the bra? I had to wear a bra the doctor gave me (I bought several more) for 24/7 for 3 weeks. This helped a lot.

You will not be totally happy until about 3 months post surgery. It takes about that long for them to settle down and drop into a more natural position.

The biggest change in my life was that I could buy any clothes or bathing suits I wanted and not have to worry that they didn't look right on me.

Other than that, I'm not sure I "approached" life any differently. Except that Victoria's Secret gets a lot more of my money! :)

Congratulations!!

I just had mine done on July 31st. I am so overjoyed with the results. The pain lasted for about a month. The first week is the hardest because you just can't do anything. And I mean you can do nothing. I was very flat chested and went to 32D or 34C. I have been fitted twice and those were the results. I can finally wear the clothes that I want to and not feel self conscious about it. It also looks completely natural. If anyone knew me before, they can tell a difference but complete strangers have no idea. I think it is completely worth it.

Congradulation!! They are the best thing I ever did. I was and small b cup,I have a 12 year old and a 6 1/2 month old. I am a full C cup, I had mine done about 5 years ago. They will be sore for about a week maybe two. The swelling will go down and they will get more comfortable. Just be patient and enjoy. If you don't mind me asking, who was your doctor?

I've had mine for 10 years. I love them. I had a problem with long nipples I wanted corrected and while they were in there, I had them give me implants.

I hope you are consistently doing your exercises to get them into place. Doing those, though they hurt, will help your body adjust better and make them look more natural. I had some tenderness for a little over a month and mine (under the muscle) squeaked when I did the exercises for about that same time. Another thing I remember was feeling nerve pops for about a year. It felt like someone was popping me with a rubber band occasionally, out of nowhere. That is perfectly normal!

I highly suggest you sleep wrapped in an ace bandage to keep them from moving up under your chin and sleep with your chest elevated.

GL and Congrats!

I got my hair highlighted a week before I got the boobs so it drew attention to my head and not my chest. If someone thought or said "there's something different about you" I could say I changed my hair! No one ever asked (out loud) about my bigger boobs and I didn't speak of it to anyone either until about a year later when I felt more comfortable (however I was so excited I could hardly stand it!) I did confide in one friend, though, and asked her if I wore something too revealing would she please confront me on it. My decision to get implants was based on my own esteem issues when I'm naked, not what others saw when they looked at me, and I didn't want to cause anyone to stumble.

I had my surgery last November. I also have a 20 month old, so at the time she was 8 months. It was hard for me to follow all the rules about not lifting, etc. I can honestly say my soreness lasted for over a month. Not severe pain, but just sore. I was back to doing yoga and running by Christmas.
They were looking "normal" by Feb/Mar. By normal I mean had fallen and settled into place. My hardest challenge was finding a new swimsuit. Good luck
