Hi Ladies,
My daughter will be 22 months for the Fall MDO program and I'm looking for any suggestions as to where I should register her. I live in Allen but an looking in Plano as well (we are located on the Plano border). Since money is tight, I'm looking for a program that is most reasonably priced. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I would recommend Creative Play Days at First United Methodist Church in Allen. We haven't gone there, but that will most likely be where my 3rd & 4th will go in another year or so. I've had children at Small Blessings (Christ the Servant Lutheran Church) for the past 4 years, but they have gone through many changes this year so for that, and other personal reasons, we won't be sending our other 2 children there. The director that used to be there is now at FUMC (Casey Garland) and she is absolutely wonderful. We pay $150/mth now for 2 days a week, and I think FUMC is comperable.

I have also heard great things about Metroplex Gymnastics MDO and the MDO at First Baptist on Main (Allen). GEM Express is East on Main Street (I think their address is actually Lucas, but it's not too far out) and is also good. Our oldest went to their Kindergarten program (one of the only in the area that kids can go on to 1st grade in AISD if they are ready). This one used to be a little more expensive (I think $170-190/mth)...It's associated with Grace Evangelical Church.

There are plenty around. Each are going to have their pros and cons. I would recommend visiting any you are considering in person, meeting the director, and asking about certification and other policies and procedures. Some preschools are much easier to work with than others. Also, don't be afraid to ask about religious beliefs and how much they are incorporated into the program. Rainbow Days at St. Judes Catholic Church has an exceptional reputation, but we ended up not going there because I didn't want my child learning all of the catholic prayers, etc. (Just my preference, you may not have an issue with that...just wanted to point it out in case you hadn't thought about it).

One last place...Reading Ranch on Jupiter (In Life Fellowship's church building, but not affiliated with the church)is a wonderful program, but I never considered it for us because it is quite a bit more expensive. I go to church at Life and some of the other members have their children in the program and they are shocked at how much their children have learned.

Sorry this was so long, but hopefully it was helpful.
Good luck.

Cornerston Church of Plano has a great MDO ministry. They are located on Independence and Ridgeview, which is between 121 and McDerrmot. I may not have spelt that right. They are cheaper too. The director is Staci Hall, and the phone number is ###-###-####. Their program is Tues and Thurs., and Maybe Wed. They will give you a tour so you can check them out. I use to work there and i had a child in the program. I was very pleased with it. Tell Staci that C. Shaw referred you.
Good Luck

Hello M.! I live in Plano and take my son to MDO at Grace Community Church. It is located at Hedgecoxe and Preston Meadows. The web address is findgrace.org. They are one of the best priced programs I have found along with caring teachers and great activities and classes for the kids. My son is in the 18 month class he has a later birthday he is now 27 months and will be moving up this fall. They will be taking registration for the public in March. We also attend this Church and are very happy there. It is a great place all around. I hope this helps.

Both of my girls attend First Kids at First Baptist Church Richardson. http://www.fbcr.org It may sound like a long way from Allen, but we have quite a few families that drive from McKinney, Allen, Plano, etc. because it's such a great school. (Plus, it's right off 75 at Arapaho, so it's really easy to get to.) It is a very loving environment with lots of fun, hands-on activities for the children. It is reasonably priced as well. I highly recommend it. Good luck in your search!

Rainbow days is wonderful. In reference to the prayers that the Rainbow days program teaches the children, someone below stated "all the Catholic prayers" I just wanted to clarify that they teach one prayer at lunch time "God is good, God is great Let us thank him for our food and friends at Rainbow days. Amen."

I also checked out North Star...it looked really nice but the director is a total snob.

Good luck finding something!

Hi M.! When I was shopping for mom's day out programs, I was looking for a Christian one, and the one that would last the longest (most go from 9-2 and I found the one that lasts until 2:30) So my son loves Kidzworld at Fellowship of Frisco and he went there last year w/ the 2's and this yr he's with the 3's. It's a wonderful program w/ awesome teachers. They have a music teacher, a Spanish teacher and they have chapel in the mornings when they say the pledge of allegiance and jump and sing. I highly recommend. they have 2 day programs and 3 day programs, your choice. I don't know if there are any spots left, but it's worth a shot! www.fofrisco.com Hope you find the one! Blessings, Stephanie

My daughter goes to MDO at Christ UMC in Plano (parker and coit). She loves it there, and I love it there! I have previously worked there, and they treat their teachers well, and the director is wonderful. Money wise, it can be expensive, but you can always do 1 day a week to help with that cost. http://www.cdcplano.com/

My son goes to Cornerstone Church MDO and he loves it. It is a smaller school, only 8 kids in his class. They are located at Independence and Ridgeview, which is one or two blocks south of 121. They offer 2 or 3 day programs and the kids are there from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. My son goes 3 days and we pay $200 a month, super reasonable! I think the 2 day program is $165? but not totally sure about that. The directors name is Stacy Hall.

Hi, M.,
Our little one goes to North Star Learning Center In Richardson. May be a little far depending on where you live in Plano. But our church also offers MDO. My little one wasn't old enough to start there; hence, the reason she's going somewhere else. But the church is Custer Road United Methodist on Custer Road just south of Legacy Drive. ###-###-#### www.crumc.org.

IN FALL there will be a 5 day program M-F 9-3 with extended care if needed.

Cross Bend Christian Academy is WONDERFUL!! Three of my mom friends also take their kids there. It's 195/mo for 2days a week. It's very reasonable, believe I searched as I have twins and have to pay double. All their teachers are certified and are amazing with children. Only 8 children in the 2s. I love it because it's small and they really have the children's well-being at heart. Plus, they have a very good academic curriculum.

M.,

My daughter goes to Promiseland MDO at McKinney Fellowship Bible Church in McKinney, at Eldorado between Lake Forest and Hardin.

I know that's not Plano or Allen, but we absolutely love it, and so does she. It's $195/month for 2-days-a-week, and as they get older, there are 3-day and 4-day programs. There are also Kindergarten readiness programs. All their teachers are certified, and they do use Bible-infused curriculum. This was Emma's first year, and we have really enjoyed it. (She's 28 months old.)

Good luck finding someplace for your little one!

I love the MDO program my son has been in for 3 years. Hunters Glen Baptist Church and his 3 day a week program for next year is 260.00. The hours are 9-2. My son is a bit challenging to work with at times and has done really well there. Very loving/educational/Christian environment.
