the past couple of weeks, every time we come home from park, my 2 year old has a new bug (or mosquito?) bite. He won;t stop scratching - any recommendations on something to use that is not toxic/full of chemicals to help alleviate the itching?

Thanks!

to stop bug bites rub a dryer sheet on him, and its a "safer" bug repellent, I use it on my daughter all the time, and do you have CLEAR finger nail polish? if you do, a tiny dab over the bite, let it dry and TA DA!! relief! =) I hope this helps!

I love Burt's Bees itch reliever. It works better than anything I have ever used!
Also....
Soap rubbed on the bite
Hand sanitizer (works in a pinch)
A bit of rubbing alcohol dabbed on the bite with a cotton ball
Toothpaste (sounds weird, but it works)
Baking Soda

Good luck!

Witch hazel on a cotton ball works great.
My grandpa used to put his after shave on my bug bites.
I smelled to high heaven, but he was right....it worked. It has alcohol in it and rubbing alcohol works well too.

This is an easy one! Baking Soda! You can put some into a bath and allow him to soak in it. If the itch is really persistent you can make a thick paste out of the baking soda and put it directly on the bite.

Dear L.:

There is an all natural product that does not fail called Healing Cream. You may be able to get it at www.ndinutraceuticals.com. You may have to email them to find it. Presently it was only being sold in doctors offices but now it is available online or by email.

A 2nd fantastic cream to have around is Sulfa*Derm. It is available at www.sulfaderm.com.

And finally a product called Egyptian Magic is a must for the mediciine cabinet. It is available at ###-###-####.

Good Luck

Kim

If it were a bee sting, I'd say mud, but it's not, so I'll try to be a bit more helpful.

If he's covered in them (Every day for a week a new one?) I recommend an oatmeal bath. If not, you might want to look up an oatmeal bath recipe and make a small amount of it to put on his bug bite and then rinse off.

This is going to sound odd, but my daughter (21 months) gets eaten up as well. Here is the odd part...rub a bar of soap on them. I even put a drop of water on the bar and then put it on her. Immediate relief. The redness even went away for a while. It came back, but she didn't scratch it again. Usually, she digs at them until she scratches herself. I love this one. I used my mother's Aveeno facial soap since it is gentle. Hope this helps.

Prevent mosquito bites with a few drops of vanilla extract mixed per ounce of water and spray it on. No chemicals and works perfectly.
