Seeking "Older" Moms in Boise

hi,

i just recently moved to boise from the sf bay area and can't help feeling really "old" in comparison to the mothers i meet at parks, the library, discovery museum etc. nobody with small kids seems to be older than 25.
my kids are 2 1/2 and 10 month old and i'm already 38!!! (and my husband turned 50 last year!)
i know, age doesn't matter that much, but it still feels kind of funny to be the one with the wrinkles and the body that doesn't bounce back to pre-pregnancy form as easily... there are other issues as well, concerning career choices and stuff like that which i'd love to discuss...

anyway, i'd love to find some or even just one friend my age in a similiar situation.are there any other "older" stay-at-home-moms out there? (preferably in the north end.)
my kids and i like to be outside a lot and we do all the usual stuff -- parks, storytimes, discovery museum, YMCA etc. i'd love to do that with some other moms and their kids, but i'm also looking for a friend to just meet with for a "girls night out" and if we could even get together with kids and husbands/partners occasionally, that would be terrific...

What can I do next?

Hi Iris - I'm in the same boat as you but I'm even older in a sense. I'm 38 now and just had my first baby in July. So even though our kids can't really play me and my boy can hang in the park. I also have a super social southern husband who would love the occasional family get-together.

Hi Iris,
I am a stay at home mom and I am 37 I am old but so are my kiddo's. All four of my children are in school now, but I am still a stay at home mom. I must admit my oldest is graduating high school this year and my youngest is in third grade (I had four kids in a ten year spread). Over the years I found it easiest to start a co-op preschool / play group to make new friends and friends for my children. It only takes up about 2hours twice a week for the class of children to get together and play or do activities or go on field trips. We would migrate from one home one week to another one the next week and would often buddy up for extra helping hands to handle the little ones. It's a great low cost way to socialize and have fun learning experiences for both myself and my children. Age 3-5 was the age group we went with and younger brothers/sisters could join too if mom was staying to help out. Plus it gave the moms who were dropping and leaving kids on their turn "off" from teaching the lesson or activity a often much needed break from the kids for themselves. You may want to look into starting up your own group. Just a thought. Good luck.

Hi Iris,
I read your request and it seemed like it was me who wrote it. I am, too, an older mother and am experiencing the same issues. I am 42 with 3 children (Ethan 6, Bella 4 and Ally 1). My husband is 42 also and works in sales and travels at least 1 night a week. So I could use a friend to hang with or go to the YCMA or just do things with.

We live in Eagle but we can always pick somewhere in the middle to meet. Let me know if your interested in getting together and having a playdate. My email is ____@____.com

P.S. If anyone else interested and in the same boat please feel free to contact me.

Hello Iris,
Sorry but I don't live on the north end but i can understand you I am 40 my kids are 6 & 8 a bit older then yours but I understand the feeling of being the oldest parent around. I am origonslly fro thr bay area too. From Benicia but I have been here since I was 13 yr old. I would love to get to know you. I do have a job so technically I am not a stay home mom but I do stay home I is 47by do day care in my home. So I can take the children where every we want to go. I have a 3, 2, and 4 yr old in my care during the day so your children will have someone to play with. My children will be in school all day long this year which will be very odd for me. My hubby is 47. your can email me at ____@____.com I hope to hear from you soon. D.

Hi,

My name is Peggy. I too am an "older" mom. I'm 38 and have an almost 4 and almost 2 year old. Both of my kids are boys, you didn't mention what yours were (not that it matters). I don't live on the North end. I'm in West Boise, but don't have a problem travelling. I know how hard it is to make friends around here, but I also know you're not the only "older" mom out there.

If you'd like to talk or meet, my number is ###-###-####.
