Hi,
I have a beautiful two week old daughter and I live in the Spuyten Duyvil section of Riverdale. I have been spending most of my time in the apartment with her and am starting to feel like I need to get out within a few weeks and meet some people, hopefully some moms in a similar situation. I plan to stay home for at least a year and would like to have some adult contact during the day. My husband works every day including most weekends. Does anyone have any advice for getting connected to other parents & activities in the area? I feel a little isolated in this neighborhood. Your help is much appreciated.

Are you interested in joining a new mom support group? It was a great way to meet other moms of new babies in my neighborhood (Washington Heights).
You can check out Jessica Shapley's groups -- I believe she also offers a group in Riverdale.

Go to www.meetup.com and search under moms in your zip code. There are lots of meetup groups in the NY area that plan activities together and I'm sure there are some in your area.

I'm in the same situation! my LO is 6 months, but I'd love to meet some other moms and chat. I haven't had any luck with meet-up. Let me know if you do. Not sure if we are close to each other. I live around 256th near the school
