Seeking Out Mom's in My Area and Activites for 2 Little Ones!

Hi,
My family and I just moved here from Virginia. I have 2 little ones, my daugter is 2 and my son will be one in September. I'm a brand new SAHM. My husband previously took care of the kids while I worked but he's finished his Ph.D. and starting a new teaching job at CU. He starts teaching classes next week and we've only been here for 2 weeks so we're still figuring out our routine. I'm looking for Mom's near me with kids about the same age and/or fun activities for me to do with the kids. Any ideas or suggestions would be so helpful! Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Colorado! I currently live in Arvada (20 min. away), but we are planning on moving to Erie soon - like sometime in the next month or so - my husband just got a job in Louisville. Anyway, I have a daughter who also turned 2 at the end of April! We would love to meet you sometime! There are some great parks close by (my favorite is near Main St. in Louisville) and other fun things to do - email me if you want to!

WELCOME! I moved here (Louisville) about 22 months ago! I now call it home! I love it here! I am part of a MOPS -- Mother's of Preschoolers group in Boulder! This has been a wonderful experience!!! We meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday's of the month - first meeting is Sept. 11. THere is childcare for the kiddos, while the moms EAT, talk, listen to speakers, and sometimes there is a craft! We meet at Boulder Valley Christian Church on South Boulder Rd. (Right between Louisville and Boulder). If you want a FREE meeting coupon (it is $8 a meeting for the 1st kid and $1 per kid after that -- for 2 1/2 hours of childcare.) The childcare workers are all background checked and the kids are right down the hall! It is a great expereince and we would love to have you -- from there, I have made some great friends, set up play groups, scrapbooking groups and now I am super busy! Contact me if you would like a free meeting coupon and I can send you one!
Again, Welcome!
Jenn

I just moved to Longmont and was looking for some groups as well. I found a Mommy and Me group through Meetup (meetup.com) and another group through MOMS Club. You can also see if there are any MOPs groups in the area. There are a lot of different types of groups, so see what works best for your family.

Hey K.
Here's the link for your local MOMs club http://www.erielafayettemomsclub.com/index.htm. A few people mentioned it in some of the responses. We moved here from Michigan 2 years ago and I joined the Westminster chapter right away. It's been great!

Look up MOMS Club on the internet, they are a national organization that have groups everywhere, there is one in Broomfield as well as Westminster so I am betting there is one locally close to you there in Lafayette.
Look if you have a local circular for your area too if there is a MOPS group close to you!
Welcome to Colorado!!

Hi, K.! Welcome to Colorado! I live in Lafayette, and have a daughter who is 2 years and 8 months old, and a son who is 6 months old. We should get together! I'd love to meet you at a park or something. Why don't you send me an email?
Also, some fun things to do in Lafayette include the WOW! Children's Museum on Harrison St., the Bob Burger Recreation Center on Baseline Rd., and Waneka Lake park.
Hope to hear from you, and again, welcome home!

You should try Meetup.com, there are quite a few mommies groups in your area, I live in the Broomfield area. I would sign up for a lot of the groups and then try going to each of them a couple of times. After trying 4 different ones I was able to find a great group that really fit me and my childs personality.
Other fun things in your area to do on your own are, Kangaroo Kingdom in Lafayette they have open playtime available, The Curious Cup Coffee House also in Lafayette has a small play area and soft sofas for moms, the Broomfield rec center has a free indoor play area. The WOW Childrens Museum is in Lafayette and has fun things to explore as well as a story time. The Erie Community Center has a nice pool with slides and a play area in the water. You could also try the local library for story time, I think that Lafayette's is on Monday mornings, but that might have changed. It has been a while since I went to that one. St. Vrain Memorial building in Longmont also hosts something called Itty Bitty City. It is an open gym playtime with push cars, balls, kiddy skates, things to climb on etc...
Hope this helps, I know how hard it is to move to a new area and not know anyone.
Good luck,
S.
