Hi H.,
I think the most important thing when looking into pediatricians is to find one that has the same parenting/medical phylosophies that you have. For example If you are a non-medicating parent do you want a pediatrician who thinks that pharmeceuticals are the answer to everything. If you have an attachment style of parenting you probably want a pediatrician with the same phylosophies. I recommend interviewing the pedicatricians and finding out what their phylosophies are and see if you have a good chemistry before you commit to using them. Most doctors will give a free get-to-know-you session to help you decide if you are a good fit for each other.
That being said we love our pediatrician. He has been our doctor since my kids were babies and he has teenagers of his own so he knows how to deal with kids of all ages.
He is not an attachment parenting/breastfeeding nazi, but will support you if that is your parenting choice. He is also not big on using medication as a first resort to healing and only gives out an Rx for antibiotics if they are absolutely necessary.
My kids love going to see Dr. Pang.
