Seeking Pediatrician in the Far West Plano -Carrollton Area

I use Dr.William Paruolo in the colony...he has rights at Presby Plano and is a wonderful doctor! I can't say enough good things about him. All of my friends use him and the kids love him! ###-###-####, i would at least do a consultation with him or whoever you are thinking about.

Willow Bend Pediatrics, Dr. Frank, Dr. Sickler, Dr. Menhendale all great. Located close to Plano Presby. A doctor from the practice was there within 15 minutes after I delivered both of my children for their initial exam. Wonderful staff.

My son goes to Dr. Thomas Grubb on Josey Lane, just north of Hebron (Carrollton). He's very pleasant, good with kids. The others in the practice are nice, too. Office is bright and cheerful and everyone is helpful and friendly.

Jeff Berkowitz is FABULOUS! I refer all of my patients to him and my 2 little ones go to him. You will absolutely love him. Most importantly, your son will love him. Both of my kids (boy and girl) think he is hilarious. He has a great sense of humor with the kids and makes them feel at ease. He is also proactive about issues and does not take a "sit and wait" kind of approach. Every mom I have sent to Dr. Berkowitz has been very happy. I think you will be too. You will know when you walk out of your first appointment with him.

I noticed someone recommended Dr. Hidalgo. My nephew went to him until he was 19! He is one of the best in this area. If we lived closer we would have used him too!

Wow - we use the doctors who Dr. Berkowitz used to be with in Carrollton when he was first practicing, I think. KidsDocs (Drs. Beamer and Rivera) is just north of Trinity Medical Center, but they also have privileges at Plano Presby - we have been with that practice for about 12 years now. Anyway, I would recommend KidsDocs to anyone, but I also really really liked Dr. Berkowitz - he was great with the kids and was a pretty young fella then - had his first child while he was with our practice. Either way you go, you should be pleased with them. Happy baby-day!

Dr. Fred Creutzmann is good! He delivered both of my boys. I had them at Trinity Medical Center and the staff there were remarkable! Great experience both times. Dr. Creutzmann also delivers at Plano Presby.

M.- I used Pediatric Specialists of Plano when both my children were born. We have since moved to Flower Mound and the drive is too long. When my kids (ages 6 and 4) were born we saw Dr. Jill Sedacca at the same practice, but she has since stopped practicing. My daughter was in the NICU for several days after being born with severe reflux, and all the doctors at PSOP were awesome... including Dr. Berkowitz.

Hi there! I had my son at Presby Plano in January 07 and I loved the treatment at the hospital. He came early so we weren't prepared with a pediatrician so Dr. Kim from Windhaven Pediatrics saw him and they were great. However, we ended up going with Stonebriar Pediatrics and Dr. Thai because I knew one of the nurses and receptionist and I LOVE him. But, it's in Frisco at Warren and Parkwood and not as close to you as perhaps the other, which is right by the hospital. I recommend either doctor!

We see doctor goebel I could find someone cloers(we are on east side of plano) but we are very comfortable with him. The office can be busy, but they have always got us in and seen us in quick manner. Dr G is also a DO, I love that he is not quick to right antibiotics or other prescripts unless it is needed.

I have seen other staff with good results there as well.

I have a 2 1/2 year old who went to the same pediatrician since we moved to Plano right after he was born. When I had my newborn in January of this year, we used the same pediatrician at the hospital, but had such a HORRIBLE experience with him that before my newborn's 2 week appointment, I decided I could not possibly go back to that pediatrician or face him ever again. I had been hearing amazing things about Berkowitz for years and had to try to get in to see him. So I made an appointment with Dr. Berkowitz and it was by far the best decision I've ever made. He not only cares about your child, but cares about you and your husband as well. He is compassionate, caring and will immediately put you at ease. Whatever concerns you have coming into an appointment will be gone by the time you leave his office. I could not recommend anyone more highly.

The only negative is since he is SO WONDERFUL, it is difficult to schedule appointments with him.

Pediatric Specialists of Plano is at the corner of Midway and Parker... GREAT docs... Janelle Wong and Charlie Goebel and Bob Berkowitz are the three I know VERY WELL and all three of my kids are happy there.

My birthday is MAY 1 so have a great baby!!! If you need a babysitter, I have two here ... a 17 yr. old daughter and an almost 14 yr old son... ____@____.com!

We live in the same area as you. We adore Dr. Berkowitz! We started using him in December 05 when our son was born and have been very happy with him. He is exactly what we were looking for in a pedi. He is very conservative, yet laid back. He is certainly not one to support any kind of delayed vaccination schedule or any type of alternative medicine. He supports breastfeeding whole heartedly, but is not a stickler about it if you prefer not to. He also encourages formula supplementation in cases of extreme weight loss in the early weeks (in both our kids that happened), and also so that daddy can do a late night feeding even if you don't pump. He is great about insisting that mom gets some rest! A lot of lactation consultants don't like him because if that, but I have had no issues breastfeeding with of my kids and they both switch breast to bottle just fine. He has been very proactive and conservative with us in that he doesn't hesitate to send you to specialists if there is even the slightest chance you may need it. Some people don't like that approach. Some do.

Now for the not so great things. He is way too popular and it is very hard to get appointments with him. The office has always got us in same day when my son has been sick, but rarely with Dr. B. The good news is that his partners are also very good and I am still happy with their care. It was Dr. Goebel that may well have saved our son's life when he had an Hib infection. This past year we end up seeing Dr. Messner much more than Dr. Berkowitz. In fact we have a joke in our house about calling "Dr. Messnerwitz." We just had our second child in February and we had to argue with them to get in to see Dr. Berkowitz for our first 3 new baby check ups even though we had given them plenty of notice when she was coming (C-Section baby). They hadn't wanted to schedule appointments until she was born, but once she was born he was already booked! We even considered just making Dr. Messner our daughter's primary physician rather than Dr. Berkowitz because of that, but decided against it because we thought it would be silly to have our kids with two different doctors. In all honesty, as much as I love Dr. Berkowitz, if you are starting out I would probably go with Dr. Messner from the start. You should at least interview her also because I guarantee you WILL be seeing her some if Dr. Berkowitz is your doctor! She is really great too and has a wonderful bedside manner with extremely cranky sick kids!

Finally, I'd love to invite you to join our moms group since you are in the area. We formed the group when our first borns were young, but now we are all starting to have #2 so you would fit right in with the second wave. A mom's group is so invaluable I can't even explain what these women have meant to me. Becoming a SAHM is such a big change I really think a support system is vital. We really help each other out with moral support and issues concerning our kids. Message me if you are interested either now or after your baby is born.

You are prepared and that is commendable. I have to tell you that our experience was great. My OB/GYN asked me what pediatrician we had chosen and we had not because we didn't know who to ask(we were very young). All of the nurses said "Dr. Crow"! We agreed since it was unanimously shouted out. We have now been with Dr. Crow for 11 years. We are willing to drive to Richardson from Grapevine for his services because he is so great! His staff is consistent and they are wonderful, too. He is soft spoken, is very wary of prescribing meds and prefers to deal with certain issues with common sense instead of drugs. He does believe in vaccinating and will take all the time you need to talk about anything that concerns you. He is incredibly knowledgeable. We like him a lot and he loves the kids. His name is Dr. Steven Crow and he is at 1111 Floyd Rd in Richardson.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Drs. Shouse, Stone, Mobley and Smith - their Pediatric Associates of Plano practice is in Plano Presby and that's where I delivered my two kids. Both kids had some random issues that needed to be taken care of, and both were caught early to the doctor's credit. The nurses are wonderful too, and I've never had a problem been seen the same day with a sick kid. I saw a few posts about Dr. Smith being hard to get into, but we primarily see Dr. Shouse and haven't had that problem. You can't go wrong with any of the doctors in this practice - good luck!

Berkowitz is very good. not sure if you are having a boy or girl. if you are having a girl, consider a woman dr as they will want one as they get older. We use Cynthia Webb, Pedatric associates of Dallas (Their Plano office is on Windhaven), ###-###-####. She is in D Magazine's best dr. list. We have used her for going on 8 years now. They are excellent, same day sick appointments. She is a great listener (I like to discuss alternative solutions alot). They have Saturday appts. in Dallas and Baylor nurses on call after hours for non emergencies. And they work hand in hand with Acute Kids for after hours emergencies should you have any.

We go to Dr. Wong in the same practice as Berkowitz. I love them all. My oldest daughter is 9, I have another daughter that's 6, and a 4 month old boy. They are a terrific practice and I can always get in the same day. Love them. J.

Dr Dunlap!!! He is in the same practice with Dr Webb which is on Communications...The street infront of the hospital..Less than a mile. Its one of those house buildings so easy in and out!! No crazy parking issues!! We started with Dr Webb but she didn't have the bedside matter I was looking for. She very dry - hardly ever smiles or laughs. I'm sure she means well but it not comforting the children. Dr Dunlap on the other hand. Greets the kids, lets them check out the tools, and talks to them the entire time. He's great with questions and taking his time. The practice is very prompt with getting you in and/or having a nurse call you with answers to questions. I would go meet him too!!

I second Dr Rupal Chiniwala. She is fantastic with my son.

You will absolutely LOVE Dr. Berkowitz!! He is fabulous and my 4 1/2 year old daughter loves him! The other doctors, nurse practitioner (Deb Mitchell), nurses and administrative girls at his office are also awesome! My daughter has seen Dr. Berkowitz since the day she was born and I have never once had any regrets in my decision to use him. I did interview/meet with two other pediatricians before my daughter was born but just felt so much more comfortable with Dr. Berkowitz than the others.

I LOVE Dr. Berkowitz! He never makes me feel rushed, is so good with my daughter (she's 22 months and has been seeing him since her first dr. visit at 2 weeks). I've called his office numerous times with different questions - tummy problems, ear infections, fevers, you name it, and they always call me back with an answer. My daughter had a lot of ear infections up to when she was 9 months old. He suggested ear tubes through his own daughter's ENT - I've had very few ear problems since.

His nurses are great, too. Sometimes the wait is a little longer than I'd like, but it's a small price to pay for a great doctor. I live all the way in Murphy and make the drive to West Plano just to see him. Tell him Sue Jenkins (my mom) and R. Feldman say HI :) Never hurts to name drop (my mom is in the medical field, too, so they know each other). I hope you like him as much as I do. My SIL take my nephew there, too.

Also - there have been times that Dr. Berkowitz wasn't available, so I saw Dr. Goebel - he's great, too.

Dr. Hector Hidalgo ###-###-#### He was referred to me 19 years ago by a friend who worked in the hospital. She said he was the best pedi. there. Over the last 19 years, he has literally saved the lives of a few of my children. He is reasonable. He RESPECTS mothers. His office staff is sweet and helpful. I can't recommend him highly enough. I have many friends who are doctors, yet I choose to go to Dr. Hidalgo. BTW, he as ONE partner--Dr. Colberg. He is also an excellent physician, but you are never forced to see a different doctor. I trust them both, which is the highest compliment I can pay.

I see that someone has already mentioned Dr Susan Sickler and her group-willow bend pediatrics in Plano. She has been a great doctor and is so great about explaining things to you.

good luck-and don't feel like you are "stuck" with a dr. if you don't see eye to eye. You may see a few before you find one that fits your style.

We love Pediatric Specialists of Plano (where Dr. Berkowitz offices). We see Dr. Goebel but have seen Dr. Berkowitz when Dr. Goebel has been out of the office. We have loved all of the doctors we have seen there. The office staff is nice and wait times are typically short.

Windhaven Pediatrics is located in the professional building at Presby Plano and the doctors there are wonderful with out little girl. The staff has always been courteous and attentive. You may want to give them a call!

We love Dr. Grubb at Josey and Hebron. My kids have been with him for 8 years and refuse to change even though we live in Frisco now. He has been great with them and has been in business for 20 years. His staff is wonderful and they're great with children. His number is ###-###-####. When my son had an asthma attack at midnight he showed up at 2:00 AM at the hospital to check on him and was back the next morning. He's wonderful!!

we also used/use berkowitz (and have also seen almost everyone in his practice over the past three years.) he is GREAT. in fact 5 days after my daughter was born we suspected something was wrong and Berkowitz was right on top of it all. He was a leader in getting us to the right place and coordinating all the specialists we needed for her. It was not a great experience watching her struggle for her life BUT he was available, professional and right on the money-!!!!

Congrats! We have a 15th month old baby boy who I also delivered at Presby Plano. We have an awesome pediatrician, Dr. Jeanette Smith who is also at Presby Plano. She is hard to get in with as she is so popular, but give her a call. She has other doctors in the same office as well and if you can't get Dr. Smith, I would recommend Dr. Mobley. He is very nice and gentle with the babies too. Good luck!

We see Dr. Angela Mix at West Plano Pediatrics and we were given her when our other pediatrician retired. She is young and was very good with our little one. Their office is located right at Presby and she was good to see our daughter every morning and took special attention when she developed jaundice. I also have a 9 year old daughter and a 5.5 year old son and the office has been great.

I have wonderful pediatrician, Dr. Shouse , she is located in Plano Presb, they office in the building. ###-###-####. Four Doctors office with her. Dr. Shouse, Dr. Stone, and Dr. Mobley.. Not sure of the 4th one. I have several co-workers who see the same Doctor’s. They are great....

We have a seven month old, and we go to Dr. Danny Kim with Windhaven Pediatrics. Their office is located in Presby Plano. He is really nice, and the staff is great. Because they office out of Presby Plano, when you deliver, Dr. Kim will be seeing your baby immediately.

I LOVE Dr. Kim Mehendale. She is on Communications and Windhaven. We had a meet and greet with about 10 doctors before my first son was born and she was our favorite hands down!!

She has 2 small kids so I felt she understood my needs. She's very conforting the the kids (I have a 2.5 year old that is petrified of strangers, but she makes him feel at ease), and my 1 year old adores her.

There are 4 doctors in thier Willow Bend Pediatrics office. All are wonderful. I had an emergency this Sunday and called to speak to her through their main number. I had a call back in less than 5 minutes and she calmed me down and told me what to do.

I would highly recommend them.

My daughter's pediatritian is a Plano Presby - she is part of West Plano Pediatrics and her name is Dr. Laurie Berger. We really like her. She is very caring and cognitive of my daughters special circumstances (she had a heart transplant last year.) I would definatly reccommend her.
