You can also go to WalMart and pick up the My Kids Magazine that is displayed in their front entryway in the magazine rack. There are tons of things in that magazine geared for children and families.

First and foremost welcome to the area, I too am from Tucson, AZ. My husband was stationed at DM and we were transfered to Randolph in February. I have an 11 month old son and live in the Converse area, it's only a bridge away from Universal City. I haven't tried any of the play groups but the previous suggestions are the ones I recieved when I first arrived here. My son was only 2 months then. But if you'd like to get together just let me know. Just e-mail me back. Enjoy your stay in SA. So far, I love it here and so does my 4 year old girl.

Hi A.- I think that the Schertz MOMS club covers Universal City zip codes. They are a really nice group of Moms (last time I peeked in). My kids have since out-grown it but we really LOVED it. Great way to learn about the city and meet other Moms. You can find the contact number in the back of the SA kids under support groups.

Hi A., I notice you live in U.C. Meetup is a great place to sign up. They have so many groups. If you want one close to you, this is the San Antonio North East SAHM playgroup. That's us, we meet in U.C as well as Schertz. Take a look and sign up. This is a great group of moms and kids.

I am a member of a great play group on meetup.com
We do playgroups all over the north SA area, (as far as Seguin) We also do mom's nights out once or twice a month.
