I am looking to transition from our Quattro Tour Travel sysytem stroller to a lightweight stroller for my nearly one year old. I am looking at Zooper, Maclaren, and Combi strollers. Any suggestions or complaints on any of these or any other slightly high end lightweight strollers?

I have a nearly 6 month old son. We have a Combi single. It has been great for everything from road trips, flying and around town to the Mall. It is really lite weight and skinny, so it fits through most department store racks. Only complaint is that the basket underneath is practically useless.

Hi J. -

I have the Peg Perego Aria and I love it. It's super lightweight, but still durable. Mine is a couple of years old and is holding up very well. It also comes in a bunch of cool colors and you can even get a matching diaper bag which hangs from the hooks on the handle.

I have a Macclaren Volo and it is fantastic. So easy to use, steer, and it has a little basket underneath it and a carry strap on the back. The best thing I think is that it can carry up to 65 lbs where most other strollers only go up to 30 or 35 and the way kids grow today they are hitting that mark around 2. At the time I was buying it my son was 2, and although he often walks on his own, there are times when you need the security of the stroller. The seat doesn't recline, but I think they do have some pricier models that do.

I am also fan of Combi. I had 2 under 2 so the single (and the double) worked great for us. The single folds easily and compactly, reclines fully, is lightweight, steers easily with one hand and is quite durable.

I just recently bought the Combi stroller for our trip to Disney world. It worked out great in the airport and in Disney. I really love it. It folds up nicely.

I have a Zooper Boogie - not the model you're considering I'm sure, since it's not lightweight. But I love this stroller. It's well engineered, has lots of nice features, and comes with all of the extras that some brands make you purchase extra (boot, HUGE sun shade, rain cover). I guess my point is, that I think Zooper makes a great product, and I'd definitely consider them. Beautiful Beginnings by Trader Joes in Lincoln Park, and Galt Baby at 900 N Michigan both have a good selection of strollers (Galt's is a bit larger) so you can try them out.

I love my Maclaren Quest stroller. It's pricier than the Volo but it has an extendable legrest and it reclines. The only thing I don't like is the basket isn't that big.

We switched from the same travel system to the Chicco C5. So far we are very happy with it. The stoller is light, takes up 1/4 the space and the seat reclines for napping.

I had the Quattro as well and just have purchased a Combi and love it!!!! I wish I had spent the money in the beginning and gotten the Combi or the Peg Pergo. I love the umbrella folding style but you still get all the perks of the Quattro. Babies R Us has reviews done by individuals so you can see what other people have said after they purchased theirs - that helped me in selecting mine.

I have had a Maclaren stroller/pram for six years and have never had any trouble with it. It still looks great and could be used for many more years. It is easy to clean, a breeze to fold up, making it seem like the Mercedes of an umbrella stroller because it is that compact when it folds up, yet much nicer and more comfortable for baby and parent. The handles are a great height even if you are a little taller than average as well. The seat reclines to various positions and the foot support extends out for a sleeping child, or folds toward the seat for extra safety for a new baby, plus it came with a weather boot, and I purchased a rain cover that covers the whole stroller amazingly well and keeps it dry. (We moved from Oregon). My only complaint would be that the basket on the bottom of mine is not that easy to use, but we learned to make it work for us.
That's my plug for Maclaren. I do not have personal experience with the others you asked about. Hope you find something you like!

I have the Combi. My daughter is almost 5 months old and I just used it for the first time last weekend when we flew home to my parents. It was me and the baby and I was able to carry her, the diaper bag, my purse and the stroller out to the plane by myself. It has a shoulder strap and is really light. I would highly recommend it.

I have the zooper stroller and have had it for 4 years.. it was my first stroller.. I LOVE it and have always LOVED it... I also have a double stroller... but even with 3 kids I use both and still LOVE my zooper the best.. it handles great.. you can easily push it with one hand and it folds up like a umbrella stroller...

Good luck!

We love love love our Maclaren Volo. We bought it when our son was 1 year old and 8 months later, we are delighted with our purchase. It is lightweight, super durable (we've checked it with airlines several times and you can't tell) and the seat is mesh, so breathable, which is great in the warm months. Our son rarely gets cranky in it which translates to me that it is comfy for him. I highly recommend it. Good luck!
