I have been checking out different schools for a 2 year old. The prices are ridiculously. I need to go back to work full time but cannot afford these prices, Does anyone know of any schools that are cheaper and good. The prices I have gotten so far range from $750 - 910 a month plus I have to bring in my own lunches and snacks for him. Any help will do

What can I do next?

Hi S.,
Did you ever consider working from home? I do and it's great!

Hi S.,
I live in Staten Island also. What area are you in? What schools have you looked at? I have twin girls who are 6 and I am an ABA therapist/SEIT so I have been in some preschools. Hopefully, I can give you some advice...

I also live on SI and had trouble finding affordable day care for my then two year old. I currently have her enrolled in Oakdale Academy, which is not any cheaper than the rest but it is very close to my home so it's convenient. The only reason I can afford it is due to a state day care assistance program. They determine how much you can afford to pay and subsidize the rest. Right now I pay $8 a week for the last year up until October thenI will be applying for universal pre-k. You don't have to be below the poverty level to be eligible for this program so you might want to check it out. I work full time and have a very good job and I still qualified for the program so it wouldn't hurt to apply. You have to go to 201 Bay St and fill out a truckload of paperwork but in the long run it is totally worth it! Good luck to you!

The SI Parent has a back to school directory with lots of centers listed. I noticed one called GingerCare 1718-###-###-#### listed itself for $500 a month 8:30 to 3pm. I hope that was helpful. My daughter goes to a private sitter but I pay $250 a week...so some months is $1000 others it is $1250. Child care is NOT cheap. Good luck!!!
